  1. Good spot. Point stands then. You're point is an absurd joke, frankly. There must be half a dozen players on similar wages to Jonas to contribute less than half what he does. Half a dozen on Jonas' wage? Preposterous. Feel free to name then and why the club will sell them.
  2. Yeh, i totally agree, in the long run id hope that the bench eventually matches the quality on the pitch but for the time being there still has to be compromises made financially. Hopefully the progress, names and brand of football give us a profile to bring more money in and eventually add more quality and depth. Even if the likes of barton and jonas were to go, i still think the quality of the first team will be drastically improve which is THE key point.
  3. There is but of all the players who you look at as expendable wages wise he'd be close to top of your list. I imagine they see ferguson as a ready made replacement. No he would not. Not a huge Jonas fan, but that's a preposterous statement. "Preposterous" The way i read it for the record is that he'll be on a decent wedge and wont fit into the system we seem to be playing. With that being the case i dont see the club willing to pay first team wages to bench players, especially when there's a young 'un waiting in the wings. Pun intended. He wouldnt be the player i'd want to sell but i can easily see it being the way the club thinks. Please, feel free to agree. Basically, with the new potential system, he's the only first teamer who doesnt fit in.

  5. N'zog, Gamiero and Gervihno in must surely mean Barton, Jonas a couple others out. I'm almost certain Jonas is going because I dont believe he'll fit into whatever type of system pardew is trying to create. Can see nolan going as well without a replacement on a purley wage slimming exercise. Obviously massive assumption here, we're definitely getting a striker, gervihno seems to be a goer and idont buy into the explanation that nzog is a back up for gervhino. Makes no sense to bid for now unless its a season ticket selling ploy.
  6. It's a shame he wont look back on his career and be embarressed by his startling lack of ambition. Those are shocking comments to make. Cant find the exact figures but I work it out at about 80 starts in the past 7 years of his career. A staggering 11 starts per season. Congratulations Michael.

Can I be bothered to disagree?! (About Owen not having the knack) I'm sure he has a 1 in 3 ratio at Man Utd, which includes something like 33 sub appearences. He also had close to 1 in 2 and Newcastle United. Basically what I'm saying is that Owen is nothing but "knack," he is also not fot to kiss Bellamys arse, which is kind of the point i was trying to make about Nolan. Owen hasn't scored in a league start at Man U since he joined that putrid cancer of a club. If you want to be swayed by goals against Barnsley and that hattrick against a Wolfsburg side that for some reason forgot to play a defence, fine. Up to you. How did he score these magic goals then?!

  9. He's the second weakest link in our side behind the lack of a quality striker. Personally would say both the strikers we've been playing are weaker than him, and our other centre half has at least matched his perfomrances this season but by no means outshone him. There is nothing drastically flawed in his game in my opinion, still relatively young and he can improve. All in my opinion of course. I struggle to think of an area of his game that isn't drastically flawed. Ok! Well I disagree, he's not a bad right back. The PL isnt exactly brimming with excellent full backs you know, we're very lucky to have one of the exceptional ones. If you're gonna name the best fullbacks in the league I'd hazard a guess and say Simpsons not gonna be near the bottom, which would be strange considering he's so drastically bad. I know I'll get slated for this but I'd much rather we replaced Nolan before we replaced Simpson. I'd be interested to hear who people think are worse right backs in the league. Not saying they'd be wrong but I certainly can't think of one. Id go as far as saying that in the entire team, the full backs are the least important position.

Agreed , quite underated by oppositions fans too, England thing i think clouds things for him with other fans. I just think Nolan for all his faults in the right system and players around him will score 15 goals or so next season, i know he got 12 this season but as someone else pointed out, quite a few tap ins/close range shots after set-pieces/knockdowns but again that just shows he knows where to get himself and thats a fantastic assest to have. If we play the way i think we will (4-3-3) as the more offensive of the 3 central midfielders, i just think it'll suit him perfectly, i know this isn't the best comparison but Cahill at Everton doesn't contribute to much in general play but he also just has that knack, headers from set-pieces aside, Cahill gets on the end things with clever runs and timing. Whilst I'd not like to comment on what Cahill contributes to genral play, I can at least hazard a guess at saying he has the engine to get back and "busy" amongst the opposiiton midfield. The best comparison I can make is asking you who you'd prefer Michael Owen up front or Bellamy?! Im sure most people will say Bellamy on a pure footballing basis due to his contibution to the whole dynamic of the team, whereas Owen has the same "knack" of being in the right place at the right time but contributing very little.

  13. Anyone know how Vladmiar Weiss has done at Rangers?! Always been impressed with him whenever Ive seen him. Cant see him having a future at Man City and can play a fair few positions from what I can remember of him.
  14. Happy with this, at the end of the day he's by no means the weakest link in our team and his position doesnt need prioritising. He'll be on decent wages and with any luck will improve like he has done the season just gone.
  15. Dont think Jonas can play in that formation, to conventional a winger. Nolan/Ireland would be more appropriate in the centre with ben arfa and zoggy on the 'wings'. Quite the opposite, Jonas is much more of a grafter than the other two and so I'd say he'd compliment them perfectly. From the teams that Ive seen with that formation, the 3 attacking midfielders are all looking to get in the box in both a creative and finishing capacity. Jonas' value is in his orthodox wing play with the ball at the feet, he isnt particularly great off the ball. For me to play the position mentioned you have to as good off the ball as you are on it. EDIT: Also, the beauty of that formation is that you have 2 'sitting' midfielder meaning that more advanced midfielders have more creative freedom.

Once they legal complexities are sorted and this is all resolved I hope they call the new law after him. Either way once he's revelaed he becomes a reference point for all future super injunction storys in the media.
  18. So why do you think he hasnt been called up this season?! It's a case of banging on the door a bit longer. How old is there cuurent LB? 32 or 33? They need to look for the next LB and Joses time will come whoever he's playing for, just my opinion of course. Like i said above i think he's using it as an excuse to go to a bigger club. I guess we disagree on why he wants to leave but if i was in his position I'd do the same, if he doesnt get in the squad next year he'll be 28 by the time he plays in his first national tournament. Puts it into perspective for me at least.

    Alan Pardew

He'll be sacked next season. My predicition is that we'll be treading water for large parts of the season and with it being an Ashley appoint think this will be enough to keep him in the job for the season but wont be good enough the season after. The odds are probably against him tbh. The percentage of current Premiership managers still doing the same job during the season after next? I just dont see us doing badly enough to warrant an early sacking. "Badly enough" being 14th place or less, hence one full season.

Having been against his appointment and despite the obvious improvements in certain aspects of our play I have to say Im still not sold on him, I just dont think he'll take, I also think that there is something Roeder-esque about his rent-a-quote nature, says all the right things, 'scouting set up', getting "bums off seats" players, "attacking football" etc, all just reminiscent of Roeders tenure. As Ive said Ive seen improvements in the team which perhaps were worth a couple more wins had they been implemented earlier in the season but i havent seen anything which has made me think that he can take our play to the next level, especially in a season where the 'normal level of play' returns. Just an opinion, I think he'll be here for another season then gone the season after that.
  23. This is a very difficult situation for both the club and Enrique. Enrique can do no wrong for me in this situation (unless he signed for Sunderland), he stuck with us during our relegation and for me, for someone with such obvious talent its a pretty ringing endorsement for his character to stick around in such difficult times. My reading of this situation is that Enriques willingness to leave revolves around Euro 2012. He has one year to get into that squad and no matter how well he's played for us he's not gonna get the profile that perhaps he deserves, its profile which should be completely irrelevant but this doesnt seem to be the case. I dont think he can afford to stay even one more year, in hindsight it would of been a good move to get his contract sorted after promotion so we protected ourselves a little more, its become the case and we shall pay the price for it. Bytheway, I think that theres a staggering amount of delusion and arrogance in suggesting we should be "competing" with Liverpool. Spurs, perhaps but whether you like it or not Liverpool are a huge club and are street above us and have been for some time now. EDIT: Just as a side note to this international ambition 'theory', if he doesn't make it to next years squad, he'll be 28 by the time he plays his first international tournament.
