Saviola - No Newcastle offer Argentine happy to stay put Javier Saviola has insisted his future remains with Real Madrid, despite interest from Newcastle. The Argentine striker is believed to be very high on Newcastle's wanted list and they had opened talks with a view to landing the 26-year-old. Vice-president Tony Jimenez and executive director Dennis Wise were reported to be heading a Newcastle delegation that travelled to Spain this week. However, Saviola has now said that he has not received any offers to leave Madrid - who he joined 12 months ago on a free transfer from Barcelona. "Right now I'm a Real Madrid player and my future is here," he told Marca online. "I haven't received any offer." Newcastle would like to make Saviola their third Argentine capture of the summer after already sealing the captures of his fellow countrymen Jonas Gutierrez and Fabrizio Coloccini. link: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_4019886,00.html

I got to say in respect to the Owen contract situation that I'm not feeling confident at all. If he does not sign before the end of this transfer window, we might as well get a replacement in sooner rather than later because he'll leave on free after this season. When Owen is on form there's no doubt he is important for us. He's a cracking player. Unfortunately, he is extremely (unlucky?) to be as inj. prone that he is. I know a lot of people would disagree with me on this, but I think we should sell him (unless Keegan's got some marvellous plan to make him recover and find his good old form) given we find a WOW-replacement before the window closes.

Yes, Kaizero is right. It's from Borat. I have no idea where Gateshead and Dudley is, and what they are like. I just googled Newcastle's town map and put in those two places. why? Anyway, to the topic discussed... You're right though, but I'd like us to atleast have him over on a trial first. I think he is an exciting player and can in fact turn out to be a very good player. I'm just not sure he's the kind of player we need at our team at the moment. I could be wrong... It sounds to me that Keegan is looking for something REALLY big (judging by his interview at SKYsports), and i din't get the feeling Skjelbred was one of them. However, I'd be happy with Skjelbred at Newcastle, maybe in January? First pri. is to get experienced and REALLY good players in to boost our very thin squad.

are you just gonna keep posting that? it's in Norweigen Haha, Alanzinho? I don't think so, Harry. (jeg er norsk forresten, og Stabæk fan). If we are to sign anyone from Stabæk it would def. be Annan. Other than that Skjelbred @ Rosenborg is a good prospect. However, he recently sign a new deal with Rosenborg. NEXT! Something his agent has said would not put off interest from the interested clubs. As much as I'd like to see him in black and white though, I seriously doubt we're in for him anymore, if we ever were. That's true. A new deal for him has pushed his asking price up further. That being said, he's has some aweful injuries, that has put him out for long periods. He showes glimpse of his talents, followed by inconsistency. He's far from as inconsistent as Braathen (prev. Bolton) though. If Newcastle look to Norway, Tarik Elyounoussi would be great. However, he's moved to a French(?) side during the summer. I'd still say Annan at Stabæk, and just keep an eye at Skjeldbred. But I feel we should look at better players at the moment.

This is the guy who apperently wanted to leave our club some time ago. We've had some trouble with him outside the pitch, that's for sure. That being said, was it Zoggy, his agent, or both who started the rumours mill? Anyway, I rated N'Zogbia. The lad clearly got talent, and I think some off you are a bit unfair. Cause at times last season he played really well. He still young, and being played out of position can't be easy... If he accept competition and does not want to leave (if that is the case) .. by showing his commitment, he'll improve. I'd like to see him being played MC on the left in a 4-4-2.

Agreed, strange sale. He was a very good defender for us imo.

Hi Dave! Almost done with my vacation (and soon to return to the forum and watching football again). Exciting signings I must say, but it's no secret that our squad is too small atm. Happy that we have release/sold some under-preforming players as well. Now to the topic... I think the club should stick with their current strategy... at least for a while... you say that there is a fine line between leaking info to the press all the time and keep quiet, and that's true. However, in the past, and tbh it still happens, the press treats NUFC like a mocking bird.... and that needs to stop.... Of course, turning things around takes time, and eventually the "keep quiet" strategy will pay off... we don't need negative hype and attention around the club... we've had enough of that... right? ...But "shit" sell... that's how the press makes money and creates hype.. A lot of fans "buy in" on the circus, and you know... there's no better thing to do than to create tension among the fans and the club, simply because we(the fans) have so much power. The process of turning things around will go so much smoother and faster if people start being patient and optimistic/positive...instead of "buying in" on every story and article they read, and notice the things that hasn't changed..

Agree with Kitman. Agree with Dave. Also, I think some of you really marginalize the positive changes that has occurred since the takeover. Apperently, we've done somegreat progress with our backroom staff, and it appears we finally have some decent scouts spread around. In addition, (NE5 won't agree with this ) it seems like the Shepard era is long gone, atleast the way he conducted business decisions and communicated with the media. I don't blame any of you for feeling a bit uncomfortable, curious or confused at the moment... hell, even I do. We've been used to the "shepard-way" of dealing, and now everything looks upside down. Read an article on TheSun the other day (yes, their reliability is questionable) about Sir Alex Ferguson and Man Utd's transfer activities, and I think some qoutes from there might be handy: Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1359196.ece That being said, I agree with Dave... let's wait a couple of weeks, if nothing has happened... well then I might get slightly worried... Come end of August and nothing has happened - hit the panic button;) Until then, go out in the sun, get tanned, get drunk and get laid!

Oba ain't leaving us... no fucking chance!

On the other hand though, it's actually nice to see that we might actually be the "selling club" for once. Can't seem to recall that we have made that much money on our players recent years (except Woodgate and Dyer, last one to some extent if you don't consider his wages over the years) there may be someone I've left out, but for the most part we've been buying for silly money and selling for nothing in comparison. Majority has actually been released...
-
Second that And to the thread-owner: Yes, I simply can't get it, why the heck doesn't Ashley flash his wallet and tell everybody how much we can spend? Now, that would be real smart. mackems.gif bah, why not follow up with another one...why not let everybody get to know who we are interested in, I can't get it. Would be a supersmart move!

Dunno much about him. He's solid on FM though. In that game he can play all positions in the back-four. But, i'm not really sure about buying another "African Nations Player"... they are always gone in Jan/feb. But as a rotation player along with some other qual. signings, he might be a good addition to a very thin squad:)
-
Got to second this. In addition I think the all the media focus on Ronaldo and Fergie might hurt Man Utd performance to some extent! Also we have to remember that our squad is mostly likely to change before August, and we will be stronger than last season. We won't lose 5-0 or 6-0... we met them on a low.. so.. yeah! Howay the lads!

Hm, you can get ahold of an AK47?

There's no need to be depressed just yet. Jimenez, Vetere and Wise seem to be working in the background, while Keegan and many others are tanning their ass in some sunny place Thing that makes people a bit nervous atm is that we normally would have been in media's limelight - dealing high and low for new players. Instead it's pretty quite... I think the reason is simply that we have adopted a new way of working now which is very discreet and hard to handle from the outside. Besides, Keegan has always been a very honest and straight-forward guy, who likes to shop.. so I'm sure when he comes back Newcastle will buy some new faces. Another thing is that Newcastle probably just wait until after the Euro 2008 before we start buying players. No drama.... but a damn boring time to be a supporter!
-
f***ing hell Well, if he decides to come back, Blackburn will be my second fav. team And I would really look forward to the Newcastle vs. Blackburn matches, which would be the Keegan vs Shearer event

Sebastian Larsson - agent confirms NUFC interest
maze replied to Captain Underpants's topic in Football
Basically says we have offered 50 million SEK, but Birmingham wants more. Larsson is flattered by the interest and see us as a big club. However, he's only concentrating on Euro 2008, and his agent's handling everything atm. Wigan and Man City are also interested - but we 'lead' the chase. -

might also been this though... didn't pay much attention as I was talking to my friends... Surprised that they even mentioned it, atleast here in Norway they don't cover Newcastle well at all. -

dunno if this has been said, but at TV4 (Swedish TV channel) just before the match between Germany and Poland, the Swedish commentators said Newcastle have lunched a 50 million SEK bid for Larsson. (about £4,25 million using this converter http://coinmill.com/GBP_SEK.html#SEK=50000000). -
this. But just head back a season, Thaksin brought in SGE to manage City, although their form was worse after x-mas than before last season, SGE managed to finish at the best position in the club's history. Still he was sacked. Imho they should have kept SGE, and just built on that. If Man City's form (and squad) had been ours, I'd be a very happy man. To me Thaksin just seems to be the man who's gonna drive City straight to hell in the long-term.
