Putting aside the moral issues around Saudi human rights, wahhabist ideology and support of terrorism the 'tea towel' thing is just embarrassing and potentially offensive to Arab people.
-
Oh yeah, that's the problem with a society where 1% of the population hold a quarter of the wealth and 2.5m people need to use food banks to survive
-
Whilst this is great let's not forget that they donate hundreds of thousands of pounds to the tories, whose policies have resulted in a 60 fold rise in the use of food banks since 2010.

Pardew was better at hiding his hatefulness, I can't remember him being as deliberately antagonistic to the fans or talking the club down in the way Bruce has. That together with Bruce being from the area and supposedly growing up a Newcastle supporter pushes him past Pardew in the hatefulness stakes for me.
-
I think there's a fair chance he won't survive until tomorrow now. The new owners must be fuming at how unprofessional he has been and how he's gone out all guns blazing against the press that they will want to keep on side.
-
Get out of our club you fat turncoat bastard!
-
When Bruce was appointed it don't think there was the likely prospect a takeover on the horizon. I think it's probably more of a case of desperation, him being the only manager they'd found willing to take the job on the basis of being a yes man with no say in transfers.

What makes St. James Park unique wouldn't really be lost by moving to Castle Leazes, it's still really central and actually more elevated than St. James Park so would still be likely to be visible across the city.
-
I don't think that would work, it would still massively impact on the setting of Leazes Terrace, it would have a more significant impact on Leazes park than the Castle Leazes site, which is Listed and a fundamental element of the significance of the Conservation Area, and would be hugely disruptive to the club to build. All for the sake of being slightly closer to the existing site.

Yeah, as much as I'd like to see a 65,000+ capacity stadium full for big games, when we were playing in the champions league we struggled to fill the stadium. Even the first time round when we had 36,000 capacity it was easy to get tickets for those matches, even Barcelona.
-
The PL have just been forced to allow the takeover to go ahead because of the blatent anti-competitive behaviour of the clubs, so they follow it up with more blatantly anti-competitive behaviour
-
Nice job on the reputational protection there David.

There's more:
-
Seems like David Bick is a bit of a dick...
-
There was nothing to engage with, you gave a view about making a binary choice over something that isn't binary and then said you wouldn't substantiate that view.
-
Can't we just support both?
-
I think we've had that already, Staveley spent most of her first day doing interviews, I don't think there'll be a press conference for the owners it would just dissolve into questions about Saudi human rights abuses at the moment.
-
We have a decent team now, this is a better squad than Rafa had, a good manager could mould the squad we have into a good top half team.

I think the main difference is that PIF don't own Disney, Uber, Facebook etc. they own shares in those companies at a minority level. I'm all for denouncing the Saudi regime for evil murderous cunts they are but, in terms of whatboutary arguments, surely it should start with pointing out our government's cosy relationship with the Saudis and why these people are not first calling for our government (that Karren Brady is part of) to cut its ties with the Saudis and stop approving the sale of billions of pounds worth of arms to them. I can't see the government business ambassador Karren Brady calling on BAE Systems to not take that investment or criticising them for doing so. The only reason people like her are saying anything about our takeover is because it affects their interests.

Nothing short of PIF using their vast wealth to bring back the Ramones from the grave will be good enough for me.

The same goes for every other club owner's wealth, that's all investments, assets and wallpaper. None of them are going to spunk every penny on their football club, so it is a relevant comparitive measure. Although, I agree that the actual figure is so far beyond the wealth of any other owner that it's irrelevant whether it's 300 billion or 700 billion.
