Clark playing instead of Schar week-in, week-out is about as peak Bruce as you can get

Imagine how Clark felt knowing that Schar is streets better than he is.

Just like Ashley not spending much on transfers leaving us in a strong FFP position;  we could benefit from the lack of intensity during the Bruce holiday training period as our season just kind of started. Our lot will hopefully still be relatively fresh during the end of season run in whilst other teams may be burnt out by then.

    man, I hope so

  3. Hoffman was the Cartel 6's man.  He helped block the Newcastle takeover, he advised on the ESL, He gave Crouch the run around but when bits and pieces of his role was going to go public, he folded and relented on the takeover.  He's the fall guy.  He's casting about for sympathy but the Cartel 6 don't want him because he failed at his duties to them and the other clubs won't want him because they know he never had their best interests in mind.

  4. Let's think about this:  the club recently put 38M into the club for expenses.  PCP put in (10%) 3.8M, the Reuben's put in 3.8M and PIF put in (80%) 30.4M.

That would mean if NUST could in fact buy 1% of the club, in order to keep the books properly, they would have to stump 1% of any money invested in the club.  So they would be expected to raise cash ASAP in order to do so.  That would mean the NUST would be liable to raise 380K to match the other's percentage recently.

    Yeah, right.

  5. I think this is why the club hierarchy have been quiet about the bullshit sponsorship rules.  Charnley made the opening statement but the club have then let it lie.  Had they continually complained about the issue they would have really set themselves apart.  Instead they've not pressed and have likely recouped some goodwill and at least not lost any.  Will some clubs be reluctant?  Absolutely, but if the club conducts itself as one of twenty everything will work out.

I'm assuming people saw this article yesterday. PIF apparently "disappointed" with the purchase so far.   https://www.football365.com/news/pif-disappointed-unattractive-newcastle-united-they-want-another-team

This is the kind of stuff we will have to put up with forever now. As soon as there is a setback of any kind, it will be that the club isn't meeting the Saudis' expectations and that they might be looking to sell.

Mind you, I'm still not convinced that they wouldn't consider selling up if we go down. Which is why it's crazy to think that relegation "won't matter".

What a crappy article.  He quotes another journalist saying that they're disappointed and that journalist clearly states its his opinion.  The article goes on to say that now PIF are interested in Inter instead.  PIF have had some interest in Inter all along and in fact preferred Newcastle because a) it was far less expensive and b) has great potential.  It has been said that PIF would be interested in owning multiple teams.

PIF are not selling anytime soon.  Anyone who says or implies that is full of shit.

"Can’t get over the constant over analysis of Howe’s training from daft 5 second soundbites.
“Oh look he’s running, setting an example for the players to run”
    what?
“look at how he’s communicating with the players”
what? Are you telling me if we could watch a live feed of Bruce he would just stand there silent?
it’s absolutely crazy how quickly they can idolise someone over practically fuck all. Do Pep and Klopp talk to their players? Looks like it’s the start of a new dawn here mind"

I mean Bruce was near silent on matchdays, and from what little training sessions they posted I never seen him run or give Insructuons, it was always the coaches.

They're absolutely seething we are fairly pleased again and just revert to "BUT THEY SUPPORT SAUDI RAPISTS AND MURDERERS1!1!1"

Nobody is listening to you fucking idiots man, your club is insignificant.

I'll be first to admit, that even when they were in league 1 and us in Prem, that I was envious of their new owners and a renewed sense of belief that their club was at least trying to pull in the right direction. They can't for the life of them comprehend that when it's the other way.

Of course Bruce stood still during training...and rubbed his scrotes.

  8. Willock is definitely a guy who can thrive under EH if he buys in.

As much as Ritchie irritates me sometimes, I love his attitude.

Shelvey casually leaning on the post made me giggle.  He was gassed.

Suddenly I felt like Big Jow was redeemable.

Fuck Bruce.  What a poser.  Should have his badges revoked.

  9. I voted 9.  I think it's interesting that he signed for 2-1/2 instead of 3-1/2 years.  Certainly he could have held out for that for he and his staff.  I know, I'm inferring a lot here but I would not be surprised if Howe has so much confidence in himself that he sees himself here for longer than that.  We know what we see with our own eyes: a club that has been severely under coached and under trained.  Howe is the antithesis of Bruce and I think results will show almost immediately.

Is he the long term answer?  Only time will tell but I think he is a definite short term answer.

  10. Just looking at this season only:

    Dubravka

    Woodman

    Gillespie

                      sell Darlow

    Lascelles

    Schar

    Dummett

                    sell Fede, Krafth, Clark

    Manquillo

    Lewis

    Ritchie

    Murphy

    Longstaff

    Hayden

    Willock

                  sell Shelvey, Hendrick

    ASM

    Almiron

    Fraser

    Big Joe

    Wilson

    Gayle

Darlow is redundant and even with heath issues Dubravka is far and away our best.  Woodman didn't impress but I still think I'd rather him back up Dubravka than Darlow.

Fede and Clark are too old and slow.  Krafth is redundant at CB and WB/FB.  If we play 3 at back keep Fede.  We need a PL quality CB badly no matter what and another younger guy to bring along would be helpful.

Ritchie and Murphy are serviceable as back up but Ritchie should be gone in June.  If we can find someone for RB in January we should go for it.

We need two here for sure.  This is the biggest problem area for Howe.  If he can define roles and play players who fit them then the defense and offense will improve.

I think we're OK here for the season.

Definitely need another quality striker.  Can't rely on Wilson to stay heathy

    6 out 6 in

  11. That was a particularly galling way to not win a game.  I hope he gets the max suspension.

As has been pointed out, as the game went on we looked the fitter team.

Until the window opens it will be every hand on deck.  Good on Joelinton.  For all his faults he was max effort. And maybe, just maybe with better fitness he can be a contributor.

Athletic claiming nearly 40 million has been put in just for "day to day running costs"

How can we suddenly need 40 million to just to keep day to day operations going. Did Ashley literally clean out everything?

This is why I said in another thread we'll find out just how a state MA left the club.  Who knows how bad it actually got and how demoralizing for the employees who still held on.
