  1. City with no Cabaye :(

I'm more worried about Tiote being missing, Guthrie has been better in his last 3 games than Cabaye has since he got injured for France.

Jesus Christ. Guthrie was worse than Cabaye today, until Cabaye went off he then raised the level of his game. Against Stoke I think they were both equally good, but Cabaye was distributing the ball better.

Cabaye is more than twice the player Guthrie is, and if he doesn't play against City we'll have more problems than we already should have.

I agree. I reckon Cabaye is 2.73 times the player Guthrie is  :shifty:

  2. I think Pards is turning out to be a great fit for this club. He's a bit of a showman and seems to really relish being at a big club. Not everyone does, but he looks like he was born to it.

Spot on. It's not about managers being better than others at this level imo. It's more about the chemistry between club, players, fans and the manager himself, as well as timing and circumstances.

  3. That was a poor poor effort from Everton today. Wigan looked like Barca in comparison. I'd be slightly worried if I were a fan.

Another big effort from the team today after the exertions at Stoke. What a wonderful feeling to get yet another 3 pts, and stick it up to all the haters and doubters.

IMO stand-out performers today were Guthrie, Ryan Taylor, Coloccini and Simpson. Jonas also is one dogged customer. He and Coloccini deserve all the plaudits for sticking with the club through thick and thin, and reaping the rewards now.

How I would dearly love to finish above Liverpool to stick 2 fingers up at Enrique  :knuppel2:

  4. Not sure if it was picked up on the cameras, but when they announced '4 minutes of extra time' he turned to the Gallowgate and started to pump his arms to urge us to sing. Was class, really went up in my estimations after seeing that. Gave us the thumbs up when we were in full voice. Canny.

Yup. Certainly was picked up by the cameras. Brilliant gesture to rally the troops, and give the team a lift, rather than sit in eery jitters. Really starting to take to him.

If we had a stronger squad, then I'd definitely be getting carried away like. We seem to do the basics very well, and there's a marked difference in the way the players "think" about what they are doing out on the pitch when compared with the shambles we saw under Allardyce and everything after. It's almost a continuation or upgrade on the work Chris Hughton began here, especially with regards to getting the basics right.

    Keep it up silver fox

  5. Definitely not worth a new contract. He's done an admirable job considering his age and limited ability. T'rific pro by all accounts, and I wish him the best of luck. Will always be given a good reception at SJP I'm sure.

  6. Dunno why I got the feeling he wanted to take the penalty last night, and was a bit miffed. Pardew seemed to console him while he was coming off. Anyone else? or just me?

I'll take that like, he wants to score a goal and the penalty award was for a foul on him and represented him with a chance to score. I'd be p*ssed off myself like. Convversely its also all good with Ba taking it as he's clearly goal hungry too. Love that in strikers. Shearer was absolutely ruthless. I remember when he basically man handled the ball off someone for his fifth (a pen) against Sheff Wed. I think it was his fifth anyway. Love owt like that as long as it doesn't hamper team spirit or friendships in the dressing room. Ba and Best both seem like down to earth quiet lads so I cannot see that happening, plus Pardew seems capable of difusing that kind of thing. Didn't he point out to Best the crowd singing his name as if to say they love you man.

 yup, wasn't shit stirring or anything, I agree that it's great to see. I do wonder tho if it's in the back of his mind that we're still looking to bring in a striker in January, and that HBA is still to be fully introduced into the starting lineup. The good thing is he sees that Pardew hesitates to drop performing players, but then again the longer he goes on without a goal, the more likely it might affect his confidence.

I sincerely hope he gets better and better, and starts scoring for fun. I do believe he is a lethal finisher, and has a decent football brain. Lovely fella by all accounts as well.

  8. I'm a bit late with it, but:

    Krul: 8

    Simpson: 8

    Taylor: 8

    Coloccini: 8

    Taylor: 8

    Obertan: 7

    Cabaye: 6

    Guthrie: 7

    Jonas: 9

    Best: 7

    Ba: 9.5

    Majestic win.

Cabaye 6?? He must have covered every blade of grass. I thought he was excellent. Couple of wayward passes but so f***. Certainly a 7 or 8 for me.

Cabaye was absolutely everywhere!! In the middle, up front, left wing, right wing.....Loved how he came steaming in for their corners from an advanced position to stop them getting to the 2nd ball. The match was won by division of labour. Best and Ba got us the goals, the rest made sure we didn't let slip the lead. That early goal really helped us on our way.

  9. why the hell is everyone biting? let the bloke have his say, no matter how s*** it may be!

For the record, as has been said, Jonas was a f***ing colossus tonight, and has been all season (where he's created a fuckload of chances). I distinctly remember him busting a lung late in the first half to get back to the left back position from half way to block an incoming cross. Could've easily just let it come in, but didn't. Heroic effort.

Gary Neville was WAXING LYRICAL about Jonas after the match.  Did a little feature on him.  Whatever that means.  Was WAXING LYRICAL.

It means nowt you clueless wum. Half the clips he showed ended up with us losing posession. Joint man of the match ffs

Look man, if you're gonna blame anyone, blame Pardew. Jonas was CLEARLY under instruction that his priority was to stop the supply coming into Crouch and Walters from Pennant. To that effect, Jonas executed his manager's plan to a tee, and fucking won! Give over ffs!!

  12. just sack him please for the love of god sack him

Would have been unlikely at the start of the season, with the club probably wanting to claim some sort of transfer fee for him. If he gets charged with assault, no one will want to touch him meaning we'd have to either keep trying to set him on the straight and narrow, or just cut our losses and sack the large twat.

  13. Prediction: Brighton to sneak a win and Harper to make some kind of amazing save to deny Nolan an equaliser

89th minute ball played over the top for Nolan to chase, what it ensues is the slowest race in professional football.

Think the ref would end up blowing for full time before either of them go to it.

  14. Been out all day and don't know where else to ask this, but what was the good news regarding an incoming player?

We're still not buying Carlton Cole.

    Ahh relief! Thanks  :frantic:
