  1. He’d be mad to go to City with all of the charges hanging over them. I must admit I only ever saw him leaving for Real/Barca, I couldn’t bear to see him playing for another English club. BTW I know this is most probably bollocks.

  2. We seem weak in defence. It’s Rafa’s ‘short blanket’ a couple of tournaments ago we were struggling in midfield.

  3. Liverpool is the last destination I could ever imagine Bruno leaving for. I think that club are about to go get a shock, I think their post-Klopp odyssey might not be as fruitful as they expect.

Ah Liverpool, that Socialist city where everyone gets along, and it’s a utopia where everyone is nice and without sin.

Also that city that in the last 18 months as resident shot dead a child and half the city kept shut about who did it and helped hid him. Another family were shot at Christmas time in a pub, and they burnt down a hotel when found out that there was asylum seekers being housed there.

Liverpool fans were responsible for the deaths of 39 Juve fans at Heysel. It’s rarely mentioned, we are the bad guys because we’ve got Saudi owners. Shameless club.

  5. We should be able to spend as much as any other club in the PL. The concept of ‘spend what the club earns’  is pretty new and didn’t exist for well over a century. It’s also totally loaded in favour of clubs who have been making hay for 20-30 years building themselves into an unassailable position with no restrictions. As soon as the Football League was created clubs were bankrolled by rich owners or they were using inducements to import Scottish professionals etc.

  6. I love international tournament football, always have since I was a kid. Some of my favourite memories are from Euros/World Cups. I totally ‘zone out’ from club football during the tournaments, don’t give it a second thought. England’s problem is similar to Newcastle’s. They need to turn up for the really big games and break through that barrier. It’s largely a cakewalk for England until we draw one of the usual suspects and we invariably lose. Southgate has made loving England quite hard but I’m still excited for the Euros.

  7. What do we think the budget is? In my mind, and based on absolutely nothing, I’ve imagined us dropping around £120m. About £80m plus £40m from sales. As I say I’ve just plucked those figures out of my arse.

Feel like he’d have to play the LCM role in our system, and Joelinton is a better fit there for us imo. We really ought to be going all out for Olise imo - he’s exactly what we need and are missing.

Olise is being courted by the ESL conspirators, we are finding it difficult to go head to head with them for players. The value for us is on the continent, we can then turn those £20m/£30m rough gems into £80m players.

  9. The next time he has anything to do with NUFC he’ll be upside down in the box, wondering how the fuck he got into that position, as Isak side steps his challenge and strokes the ball past the keeper to put us 4-0 up.

  10. Disappointing but it seems the ‘free transfer’ element of the deal was key. He’d obviously been profiled but would we have been interested at £30/£35m? He’ll now sit on Chelsea’s bench whilst Howe would have got him into the England set-up.

Agreed. Not going to buy Nike, Puma or New Balance gear. Allegiance well and truly to the 3 Stripes and Trefoil.

Needed some new running kit and I’d always favoured Nike t-shirts and shorts. Just started buying Adidas replacements. I’m a marketing man’s dream me!

  12. Willock was a better player than Gordon not that long ago. He has a high ceiling, he needs an injury free season in a settled team to continue progressing. No way I’d sell him.

Completely agree.  Four in a row was an impassable barrier - most football anoraks could name those clubs who’d managed three (Huddersfield, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd) - but Man City have just broken another one with little fanfare.  Their treble last year just seemed a bit flat to me - a procession instead of a triumph.

I get that people think it’s funny that the same old clubs can’t get past them, but I do think that there is a joylessness to it all.

This is the system the ‘Red’ teams built for their own self aggrandisement. City turned the tables on them and are maximising their advantages. Now it’s ’not fair’. They could allow teams like us and Villa to actually compete by allowing our owners to spend but that would further endanger their little club.

If the club and Eddie think they can sell and bring in an improvment that im all for it.

He's been class  for us, but the way we play to have a keeper that can pass a bit would be pretty transformative and help us be so much harder to press. If we can sort that out and then have a back 4 that can all play a decent pass (would mean upgrading on burn), teams would then struggle to decide when to trigger the press against us.

The only two players I worry about with the ball at their feet are Pope and Burn. Even Lascelles has improved a lot on the ball. Probably a bit unfair on Burn but when he’s at LB he’s more exposed and we’ve seen how much better Hall is at taking the ball and picking a pass.

It changes people’s perspective if you disallow the First Division goals Shearer scored before 1992.  And penalties last time I checked count.

Shearer is the fourth highest scoring player in top flight history.  Cole is joint thirty-seventh.  They’re not close

Always surprises me how high Tony Cottee is on the all time list (17th). Post war, only Greaves, Shearer, Lofthouse, Rush and David Herd are above him. Although Harry Kane is one goal behind him.
