I still fancy a score draw for this like. My confiidence will grow if Adebayor's out. -
Once again I find myself in complete agreement with Wearside. You guys just don't see the bigger picture. The season we were relegated was tragic, it had nothing to do with the relegation itself but the fact we finished below Sunderland. Again the following season my champaign was on ice, I just couldn't celebrate promotion knowing again we weren't north east top dogs. Then finally after an impressive 12th plaace finish following our return to the top flight Sunderland ruined the party. This season if we finish 7th, it won't matter if we somehow don't finish above the mackems. Our world revolves around theirs, I attach no importance to any other factor throughout our campaign. Our success isn't measured by our league position, our performances or any other context what so ever, we just have to finish above the scum. It's similar to the Cabaye-Gardner comprison. Ability and effort have no place in the modern game, it's goals that win you games. Cabaye may have more assists and could have generally played the better of the two but the only barometer to measure their performances is goals. Therefore you have to accept Gardner is the better player. Stats are everything, context is nothing.

He's doing a fine job.

Rodwell will play regularly this season. Even then he's shown enough to justify his place above the like of Barry.

Don't be so fucking daft... ...Steven Taylor's heading ability is wasted out wide. -
Didn't a lot of those players come through the youth system together? Woops was ment to modify my post, deleted it. Anyhoo, I'd imagine three or four of them did. The point I'm trying to make is while a good team spirit can be a highly positive attribute there are far more important elements to a quality football team. Namely quality and a well thought out game plan. For what it's worth I think it'll be Spain and Germany battling it out for the tournament.
-
Also I hope Capello doesn't see Barry and Parker as a long term partnership or we'll be on the plane home earlier than usual.

They play for Mn Utd though. I can see the benefit of having 6 or 7 of the 11 play for Man Utd because they are already playing together and performing well and therefore they won't need to gel or work on team spirit as you already have it. That isn't something that teams other than Spain would have. You mean the Spanish team that won the world cup with seven Barcelona players in the starting eleven? Quality and coherence are equally if not more important than spirit. Team spirit pushes you to the latter stages of tournaments, quality wins you them. True, but the current cancerous England team won't get past the group stages. Cancerous is a bit strong, but I agree with the sentiment.

From his own mouth he can play on the wing. Albeit this is a defensive tactic serving a certain purpose. It's a stupid "tactic." He's not a centre midfielder or a winger, he's a full back, which is where he should/would play. He is not a full back, he is a versatile wide player. It would be foolish to nail him down to a certain position at this stage of his career in my opinion. Not watched much of his career then? -
Cleverly and Wellbeck aren't world beaters like.

Tiote-Modric will be an interesting and decisive battle. Spurs have a lot of talent going forward, however they look relatively weak defensively in comparison. If we can retain the ball and get at the full backs (Walker and Assou-Ekotto) we have a real shout in this game. If we sit back and worry too much about the attacking talent they possess i.e playing defenders in midfield we'll get taken apart. -
Goal keepers: Hart, Foster, Camp Right backs: Richards Centre backs: Terry, Cahill, Jagielka, Smalling Left backs: Cole, Baines Right Wing: Young, Lennon Centre midfield: Lampard, Gerrard, Wilshire, Rodwell, Oxlade-Chamberlain Left Wing: Johnson, Downing Forwards: Rooney, Carroll, Sturridge, Bent With Rooney suspended in the group I'd probably go 4-3-3 given we'll probably drawn in a decent group, perhps go: ---------------Hart--------------- Richards---Terry----Cahill---Baines ----Lampard----Rodwell----Wilshire Young--------Carroll--------Johnson With Rooney back I'd switch to a 4-2-3-1: ---------------Hart---------------- Richards---Terry----Cahill---Baines --------Lampard-------Wilshire------- Young--------Rooney--------Johnson ---------------Carroll---------------

Football in pubs: North East pubs facing foreign channel crackdown
The Prophet replied to a topic in Football
The Court ruled the ordinary everyday person is entitled to obtain and use a foreign football channel for personal use. However the Premier League and Sky were given some protection in regard to providing football to paying customers in environments such as pubs. While they cannot prevent the football match itself from being televised, the Premier League have copyright over it's logo, theme music, etc. So any use of this copyrighted material is prohibited. This might become more relevant if the Premier League attempts to plaster logos and other copyright material all over the shop during a match in order to prevent them from being televised full stop.
