True BUT trying something else has to be preferred to Anita and Colback as that is clearly a failure, which is why the team Halcyondaze suggested is not that ridiculous really

It definitely would allow us to break up the Colb/anita axis of death. Which would be awesome.  What happens if/when  Aarons comes back though? be good to have some genuine pace in wide areas

Absolutely nothing wrong with that XI tbh.

 

2 players started less than 5 premier league games between them. Tiote picked behind a no defending midfield based on one half decent game, a striker who can't score, a winger who hasn't done anything since he signed, a defender that can just attack and a past it centre back. That's just the start.

 

It's the best we could currently name imo.

Colback's 2 match ban is imminent and Anita is out for another few weeks.

 

He's got no option but to try Tiote, Wijnaldum and Sissoko as a central 3 and mix and match the other 3 places.

We shouldn't use Colback's s***ness as a way of praising Anita. Just forget about Colback for a moment and say what the f*** it is that Anita brings. Detest the word "tidy" to sum up a positive for a central midfielder.  You need so much more than that.

 

Reads the game very well, to the point you rarely have to see him off his feet diving into tackles because he's already there. Presses the opposition very well and doesn't just run around after the ball. And the tidiness you detest is a job which someone has to do to tick over the play from the back and he's good at it.

 

You might want to forget about Colback but you just can't. A lot of the time Anita is actually looking to cover out for his shitness or lack of positional sense. Tiote isn't intelligent enough on the football pitch to look after Colback. Be very surprised if that doesn't become glaringly obvious in the upcoming games if those two are selected which they most likely will be.

 

He's hopeless man. Been here ages and you can count on one hand the amount of good games he's had in that time. Total non entity of a player. Doesn't score goals, doesn't create goals, not a great tackler and more often than not you struggle to realise he's actually on the pitch which should never be the case for a player who plays in such a prominent position. We need a completely new central midfield and we need it quickly otherwise we are down.

Seriously though "total non entity of a player" sums him up. Sometimes when people say he's had a good game I'm totally baffled because he seems to be  as ineffective in pretty much every game.

 

That's just not true, he has had good games, more than a handful

 

He needs upgrading BUT he is not a complete liability like Jack Colback

I think that's what the inflated opinion of Anita on here comes down to. Failure to appreciate Anita could be seen as approving of the dreaded Colback! In truth both are rubbish. Both have contributed the same amount to the team (very little).

He's one of those players that make you really question how he even got scouted and made it to the top level.
