Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has confirmed loan signing Haris Vuckic will not be returning to the club.

The Slovenia midfielder had hoped to be at Cardiff until the end of the season but has been called back to Newcastle United to cover for injury problems.

It is a blow for the Bluebirds who could do with him after suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Hull in midweek.

"Newcastle have picked up injuries in the last week which means he now has to be on their bench," said Mackay.

"We obviously wanted to keep him.

"He is a talented individual who is going on to do very well in his career.

"Sometimes these things happen and Newcastle had three injuries that they didn't legislate for.

"Haris is a terrific young lad to [have] around the place. He is going to be a real talent."

Shame, can't see him getting too many minutes here

  2. If I am allowed to speculate,  I have a sense that while pardew acknowledges Hatem as a good fotballer, he prefers defensive fibers in all parts of the team, strikers excepted. HBA is a bit of a maverick, he does what he wants and is more preoccupied with offensive efforts than defending and tracking back. I think this is the crux of the "conflict".

HBA was fit for play last september, maybe not the full 90 minutes - but the only way to get him back into match fitness was playing him. That didn`t happen. As to why that was, Pardew said many things. One was match fitness, but that was a bit of a circle arguement. How is he going to get back into gear from sitting on the bench..

For a long time, Hatem seemed to be something of a last resort. Behind Sammy Ameobi, Peter Lovenkrants and Perch/shola in the queue, He was only allowed to

come on if we were in the shitter or if we were banging our heads against a wall.

I cant see how only being allowed to come on when we are behind by 1-2 goals is beneficial to someone coming back from a grave injury, expected to turn the ship around.

He was never going to come on at 1-0 or 2-0 with the wind in his back and allowed to have some fun, because Pardew isnt that type of manager. At that point he is more likely to sub on Perch or Guthrie and defend the lead.

Our bad patch has been a blessing in disguise for HBA I believe, because if the good results we enjoyed before the Chelseagame had continued, it is my belief that he would have been binned by Pardew a long time ago.

Had the results not been as dire as they have been recently, I firmly believe Obertan and Raylor had been the preferred choice regardless of their contributions, because they do exactly what Pardew instructs them to do defensively.

In such a scenario he would probably have been immune to critizism had we been on 50+ points, but in my mind it still speaks volumes that HBA simply isnt a type of player he prefers personally. he is too flamboyant, too talented, too much to handle.

That is one of the issues people had, Obertan was useless defensively in that run of games he played, the odd moment he would track back BUT far too often he offered no support to Simpson and he was just drifting

  3. There was a bit in the 2nd half when Vermaelen was injured after Ben Arfa caught him, Arsenal had the ball yet they never put it out, he got up a little while later and was suddenly fine to boot it away BUT I bet if we ended up getting possession of the ball we would have kicked it out even though his own team did not give a crap

  4. He didn't even touch the ball or hardly in the second half yesterday, which is a problem, but you gave all the possession to Arsenal so...

Best position for HBA would be a FREE role up front, with minor defensive duties. With such a position, he'd be able to switch position easily. I think to give him a precise/determinate role isn't quite a good idea.

Now, the question is if Pardew will be courageous and put Ba, Cisse and Ben arfa all three up front? Normally, NUFC has nothing to fear from Norwich so it could be a good opportunity to test the system on Sunday...

    4-3-HBA-2 ?

That's the formation I would really like to see us use in the future. I really do think that we have the players to make it work. One can hope.....

Without quality fullbacks that formation is destined to fail.

Indeed. Hopefully summer will be a busy one for us in terms of incomings......

In terms of the full back situation, I would like to see one of the following:

    - Sign a new RB and keep Santon at LB.

    - Sign a new LB and move Santon to RB.

    - Sign no-one but do this: Move Santon to RB and start Ferguson at LB or keep Santon at LB and start Tavernier at RB.

(I'm going to assume that Simpson is going to stay as back up btw, can see him being decent cover for a new RB/Santon).

I would hate to see option 3, that would be terrible

  5. Didn't understand why he was behind Tiote, it wasn't just here and there BUT for most of the game, so surely that was instructions from Pardew, in which case I don't know what his thinking was

As it was he had an average game, the passing and touch was off

As others have said think 3 in the middle with him the most advanced might just get the best out of him

  6. He had a poor 1st half BUT Perch wasn't much better and that would have been an okay performance by Raylors standards

Would like to see him get a run at right back if possible, might just be more suited to that side

  7. Well taken goal, did well in the 1st half BUT unfortunately hardly saw the ball in the 2nd

Hopefully Pardew will have seen enough to know he should be starting next week

Who is most likely to play Left Back for Norwich? They have had a few play this season haven't they?
