TAA has spent the last 10 minutes just wandering about tbf.

Couple of really nice bits of tight control and touches. They both have a lot to offer in different ways. I’d be tempted to have them both in the squad.

That was such a lovely cross field ball from Foden to Rice at the beginning of that move. Honestly, Rice and Bellingham in the same midfield is tasty as fuck. If we could get the CBs right we could be really bloody good.

Oh yeah totally, but I was concerned that he just wouldn’t know where to be or where to go. I’ve been pleasantly surprised. He’s not as obviously dynamic as Rice but has usually made himself available at the right times. He’s very languid in general which doesn’t help his optics.

Fuck, wish we had the Italy game on now.

I’d like to say that one thing we have learned from this is that Henderson shouldn’t be starting but…we knew that already. Maybe he’ll not start Rashford either.

Actually I think he’s been very good in this second half. Rice seems to dovetail well with him.

Better build-up play. Rice inspires far more confidence than Henderson and seems to give the others more freedom.

Can’t make up my mind on TAA in this position. Some nice touches, I think his positioning has been pretty good, distribution ranges from sublime to ridiculous.

I hate this bullshit timewasting over the goal kicks. Sheffield United did it as well. They want to play it short, we push on to box them in and then they just stand there wasting time hoping we just…get bored and move away? Heckingbotham basically said “we weren’t wasting time, actually we wanted to play it short and they weren’t letting us.” Right. So fucking get on with it.

Think the ref’s done well in general.

It’s one of those quintessential European ref decisions where they make a very predictable guess and it’s just completely wrong.

I thought he was going to dive tbh and clearly so did the ref…but it was a penalty

I paid little or no attention to the build-up to this. Is there any particular reason why Maguire and Henderson are playing? I sort of see some logic in playing Henderson with TAA but what other CBs are available? And don’t say Lascelles.

Malta look very well-organized and competent tbh. Should be a decent test of our ability to break this down. Not a convincing start but last couple of mins have been encouraging.

Yeah, I actually did this once in a game when I was a teenager. IIRC I partly did it to be a cocky little shit though.
