  1. He cares about how the club is DOING, because that's his job. That's good enough for me, but I don't believe for a second he has any kind of sentimental attachment to the place like.
  2. And those advertisements are blatantly going to be Sports Direct.
  3. Think we'd still be bothered, but the sting would be lessened a bit due to the club actually having something to gain from the situation rather than just Mike's company.
  4. Better off playing the kids than bringing in some knacker free agent.
  5. It's not when we know that enough money is there though. How many of those clubs had £35m sitting in the bank?
  6. the Bobby Robson bust with a dunlop cap Arrange some flowers in the memorial garden to spell out 'SPORTS DIRECT'.
  7. What do we reckon next then; Jackie's Statue strutting it's stuff in a pair of Sports Direct's finest trackies?
  8. If this one happens he won't see another penny from me.
  9. I'm not an Ashley apologist, but I think that would be yet another very good move by the club. If true well done Mike.
  10. Pardew's just a yes man with shit bosses man. He's football management's equivalent of a parking warden, he does what he's told even though no one likes it, or he's out of a job.
  11. Wish people would actually just make points instead of stereotyping whole groups of posters under one non-existent category. Alright then, a question. What would be the cut off point for you to start thinking 'hang on, things are actually getting pretty fucking bad here'?
  12. I dread to think how bad things would actually need to get before the permanent optimist brigade would start getting worried about the way this club is going.
  13. We've acquired a good striker, we just needed another. Exactly, and the second striker only became our biggest priority after we secured a good fullback as well. Don't get me wrong, I wanted another striker, but it had to be one whose quality was way above the ones we've got. That always made it harder to achieve, especially under the frugal spending limits we've set ourselves. It's not hard to bring in a forward capable of keeping Shola and Lovenkrands or even Best out of the side. Most of us could probably name about 50 off the top of our heads, many of whom were probably available this summer to someone willing to meet their club's valuation and some of whom were even available for free.
  14. Do you actually read anyone's post other than your own? Not one person on this board has defended our transfer window/Ashley - some just aren't as negative about it as others. Where's the line between putting a positive spin on it and defending it? Hopeless. Aye reet. Sometimes you need to stop trying to put a positive spin on things and realise you've been fucked over.

  16. We bought Ba. We obtained Ba, you mean. Do you really think we would have went for him if he wasn't available for free? We're putting all our eggs in one injury prone basket who so far hasn't looked good enough. The lengths some people will go to to defend this shambles are amazing.
  17. "Tried desperately" fuck off did we.
  18. So only a £35m striker would have made you happy? Or is there more to it than that? Don't be ridiculous.
  19. 5. With a striker it would have been an 8 or 9. Welcome to another season of good build up play and missed sitters.
  20. When we're watching Shola and Lovenkrands miss every chance we create for them every game I hope the people even contemplating trying to defend this shit don't complain.
  21. yes there is No, there really isn't.
  22. There's no fucking defending this man. They had 7 months and £35m to find the right man and ensure they got him. Inexcusable.
