I don't think if we did sign seb he would be replacing Jonas by any means, im sure Pardew said he wanted to add pace to the team, take out jonas and them four in the middle would have the pace of a snail race. Fans don't appreciate how much Jonas gives newcastle in how direct he is, yes he lacks the technique of barton and end product but he frightens defenders and puts them on the back foot, he is a dangerous player and his work rate for the team is without question top draw. The only player that will be putting Jonas' arse on the bench is HBA when he is fit and deservedly so on what we have seen so far from him.

He is not going to come in to be cover for anyone. Well obviously we aren't targeting him just to sit on our bench but obviously you can't expect to walk into any club and go straight in the first team when everything is working fine as it is, as a player you are expected to show your talents in training or by coming off the bench and impressing to get your place ahead of others in the team. How would barton feel if we signed bentely and he got booted or Jonas got dropped for larrson or kranjcar for nolan for example. It would disrupt the whole team spirit. You need to earn your place in the starting line up ahead of others as Best did with Ranger through commitment and hard work.

Just because we sign someone for a bit of money doesn't mean we have to push them straight into our first team. Whoever we sign in Jan is going to have to fight there way into the first team. Our midfield is working well at the moment with barton's delivery and passion on the right with spiderman's pace and workrate on the left. If we sign larrson or bentley or whoever there's no harm in it creating compitition for places. We still have Dan Gosling and HBA to come back from injury aswell which will boost the midfield options furthur.

I'd wait till the summer and buy a quality striker rather just spending the 5 million or whatever is available now for the sake of it. I think we need cover for enrique at LB, Patrick van Aanholt would be a decent capture. Also need another creative midfielder, i'd happily take bentley if possible or kranjcar. Wouldn't mind seeing Ranger move out loan to build some confidence and push Xisco up the pecking order in his place.

What i couldn't understand is when Pardew says 'Best has been banging on my door asking for opportunities, he's not here just to collect his weekly pay cheque', what the fuck has Xisco been doing in the meantime? If best is crying out for a game, has Xisco got that fed up of being here without been given a chance he's lost all interest or has he just been absolutly bothered from the start of all this. He was canny out on loan last season at Racing but even then he was in and out of the team at a below average Spanish side. I can't understand why he gets put on the bench randomly one game then nowhere to be seen for couple of months. Obviously he's had a fair share of injuries here and problems off the field with adapting over here but if his attitude isn't there surely you need to get rid A.S.A.P or do the opposite and send Ranger out on loan and say to Xisco you will get your chance just like Best if you put the work in, not just a random spot on the bench the odd game during the season.
