been a very good day for them dirty gooners

There's no way a team will go down with 40 points this season. No chance. you never know apart from wigan, the rest are picking up points where they really shouldnt be.
-
bolton you are genius! hahaha they way things going im not sure 40 points would be the safety net. im not saying we're in danger lol

Give it a rest man, there's already the match thread and his own thread haha you can't handle the truth

how many games has willo played this season??? and he still had more good games compared to turds like ameobi.

our whole back four was fucking shit. there absolutely no way any of our defenders could have looked good if we play kamikazi highline and no shape defence.

fuck off scouse gits

The defence moved up because we were weaker in midfield and they tried to fill the gap. my reading was the defence moved up a tad because johnson came on and dropped a bit deeper, no doubt many on here want us to stand 30yds out and wait for them to come at us. And you want the defence to move up and to be caught with ball over the top over and over again....brilliantly Pardewisque. Basic rule of playing a high line, you need quick defenders who can chase the ball over the top. We should never play a high line coz none of our defenders are fast enough for this, especially Colo and Williamson. no, you try to read that and cover all fronts, it's called defending. thats why you don't man mark all over the pitch but take up positions to mark the man and cover other outcomes. Seriously Madras, you're not making any sense. No matter how well you cover or take up positions, when our defenders play high, all Fulham needed to do was hit the ball into the wide gaping space behind the defence which is really not difficult for most premiership players. The only way you can play a high defence is either to have fast defenders or outnumber them in midfield and hustle them so that their midfield can't put the ball over the top. We did neither i'm not saying we played a high line (something thats been all the rage on here since waddle went on and on about away at citeh the other year), we played where you'd expect given their dropping off when johnson came on, it wasn't a tactic just basic what most teams do in that situation, i'd also say if we hadn't been chasing the game those gaps wouldn't have been there. Ok I have no idea whether we deliberately played a high line because that was our tactics or whether we naturally played high to follow Johnson who was playing deeper as you claimed. Whatever the reason, we are not equipped to play a high line and should have our defenders sit deeper/stay back. I appreciate the point that this will mean that Johnson will likely get the ball but given that his skills are limited and that he will still have to beat our defenders who will be in front of him, it is far less damaging then having one of Dempsey, Zamora and Johnson only having Krul to beat once they get the ball over the top. we played the highline all first half, and it worked because they only had zamora upfront on his own, second half we kept it high, johnson was on already and tore us a new one

christ if only we won

I know you're probably being facetious, but I'll respond anyway and say "no need imo". To start with, Jol's choice of replacement for the injured Sidwell showed little appreciation of what was going wrong for them in the first half. His next change was more or less enforced, as Zamora was so shockingly poor in the first half that Jol simply had to do something to bring him into the game, and calling on Johnson was the "no brainer" option. In the second half, a lucky penalty to them, a Hollywood attitude on our part, an array of individual errors and s*** performances from our players, and finally a complete and worrying inability on our part to adjust tactically to the way the game was unfolding played completely into Fulham's hands. In sum then, Jol belatedly showed some commonsense, and we proceeded to make that look like genius! And f***, wasn't it painful and infuriating to watch!? you're right i was being facetious lol and i agree with you. we were fucking rank

we never took advantage of the possession we had with the ball. we should have pressured much more and created a s*** load more chances, we had the game controlled which should have given us the ascendancy to put fulham to the sword but we did not take it. yeh sure we played well and passed it and scored a wonder goal, but should have done much more in the first half becuase fulham was fucking horribley shyte!

weren't we already 3-1 down and getting spanked before we changed to 4-4-2?

Nonsense, if tactically you cant change the outcome whats the point of the Manager. Just as you said when Jol changed his team, we should have asked our team to play a lower line with the midfield closer to the back four (crowd our half, no space to counter) . They took advantage of the gap between of slow CBs and midfield which were still too high up . Mind you Pardew did not notice it even until the end of the game. It wasnt even changing who was in the team Perch for example, it was where the team should have been tighter when they are under pressure. On reflection I agree with that actually. Suppose I'm just trying to find a way to be charitable to Pardew rather than going immediately for criticism. and also pointing out that we do have some weaknesses in the side (little protection from midfield, pace at centre-half). During the match I thought we should've started defending deeper, used Best as the target man and let Obertan and Ben Arfa threaten on the counter attack. As well as taking one of Guthrie or Cabaye off. I think we could've seen the game out that way and threatened them on the break. Pardew just needs to hold his hands up and admit he messed up. All in all a good glimpse to how we could play when the flair players are deployed the right way, Thought the teams shape was great, always an outlet to pass to when the players were under pressure. Tried the same stuff in the second half but it didnt work and we conceeded like running tap. Reflection point for Pardew to balance team as to how the other team is set up playing. Hopes he keep to the 4-3-3, its looks promising with the right players. sadly i dont think pardew will try a 4-3-3 anytime soon judging by how our players performed as soon as the opposition switched to 4-4-2. was today a 4-3-3 ? was in the first half, 4-3-3, 4-5-1 depend how you want to look at it.
