  1. Under an ambitious owner or a regime that actively wants to be the best they can be then id say this would be an important step in the future by having a potential world class player at our disposal but we know what the drill is here.

If Ashley still owns us next season then Merino's transfer out fee will cover the transfer window after. Quote me on that.

  2. I suppose one thing to cling and clutching a little bit here, is that the club haven't come out and issued a "this is not true" or "there has been no official approach".  Unless Ashley is playing the long scam with nufc fans for laughs.

Nailed it with that bit for me.

  3. We are a bad example to value anyway as those, if there are anyone really looking, will find out when going through the books as a lot of income is diverted elsewhere thus not showing in the turnover.

  4. One thing that doesn't make sense in all this is why the club would want to defraud the tax man by paying high amounts to agents to pass on when they could have paid less on just using one to do a deal?

The only way I can see some logic in that is if it was in someway passed back to people involved in the club.  Just doesn't seem worth it though. Big risks for minimal gain.

  5. This talk of a takeover only really got mentioned once Rafa exposed the fact that Ashley hasn't changed his spots by lying again.  It's amazing how it never fails to not work.

Can just imagine Ashley and his clan laughing about it.

  6. I'm with Dave on this, like.

I said already in this thread that west ham fans would regret moving in under a decade, I reckon most would admit already that they should have stayed put. I don't know enough about Atletico but it wouldn't surprise me if their fans feel or grow to feel the same. Leaving our stadium and it's location would be absolutely criminal, imo.

I would hate to move out of the city centre.

    Me too.

I'm reckon we could possibly do something with the East Stand to increase capacity, without affecting Leazes Terrace. Knock it down completely and build it much higher with a steeper angle...could even possibly make it two tier.

It only holds something like 5000 ffs

Leazes terrace has a "right to light" though. Make the east stand taller and it'd infringe

Most students wont even venture out in the light anyway so there's a job for a decent lawyer to worm their way around the listed status.

  7. A new stadium could easily be built on the current land and exactly how Spurs have done theirs with the problem caused by Leazes Terrace 'solved' by having a green area adjacent to it. This could be part of the bartering chip to give back some of the green land that we would take up.

A new St James' Park would be within 400m at worst of the current plot and maybe as short as having the new Gallowgate end just past where the Leazes end is now or it could be spun 90 degrees or whatever to suit.

Instead of a drug infested shit heap that lies North of the ground now that the students walk across or others allow to have their dogs sh.it on, we could have a real jewel in the English crown with road links exactly the same, maybe even the same entrance road for the officials cars. It's not rocket science to do if the likes of me, Joe Bloggs can think of things to suit all, even the cows would be safe.

A grand entrance to the newly named St James' Park which would be a spruced up forest type area with a big ground in the middle could be where the lower Gallowgate is.  Massive money and massive amounts of time would be taken to do this but it's perfectly feasible and ticks every box there is.

  8. People still bang on about any new owner needing to have loads of funds when the reality of it is, is that us being allowed to be run to a normal potential is a big increase straight away.

Obviously extra funds will allow other things to grow but any owner with no extra agenda to better a side business will do. So Staveley, Middle Eastern investors or Joe Bloggs, it doesn't matter.

  9. The club had a fit when the HMRC wanted to check the books so I doubt they'll hand them over for buyers to have a mooch.  Disclosure or not.

I just think there's that much smoke about that it's the equivalent of JFK being left alone to cook in the training ground kitchen.

  10. I wonder if she'd be up for a threesome with me and Karen Brady?

That Karen Brady looks like the wife with the blackboard on the owld BBC test card.  That Stavely looks like a typical neglected barn lass, so nee three-bies on my agenda...

  11.

There will be a line in the article about it that says something like: “Staveley’s group was very interested in Newcastle United, recognizing the club’s potential, however negotiations with Mike Ashley went nowhere.”

Ive resigned myself to this scenario for the next few takeover links over the next ten years, so im laid back about this.  It's at best just a page filler through the usual repeated click bait sh'ite that we get through the international breaks.
