  1. The biggest complement I can give him is he didn't get enough of the ball today especially in the 2nd half. If he had we would have won as Liverpool couldn't cope with him.

He was fantastic today on the whole, until that mistake. Desperately need him to bounce back quickly from whatever injury that is.

Wasn't even a mistake just unlucky how the ball landed

I've never been a fan of his subs. Too late and like for like for most part, so was excited for this season for him to have a bench to work with, to see if that was the problem. That and his lack of rotation would be forced upon him due to additional games.

Be interesting to see what he does next. He'll be mad as fuck, but isn't the type to dig his players out in front of the cameras. They'll find out how well they played in the dressing room and in training till next weekend.

Sometimes you learn more from the setbacks than you do the wins. I think we can turn the last couple of defeats into positives with reactions from the players, maybe even an unexpected transfer from the board. Mind, someone needs to find out what's going on in Bruno's head as he's just not started this campaign, that and him snapping on SM, makes me think he's not 100% happy.

Overall shit day, but Eddie is the man to get us back on track. He's brought us back from far worse than this and got us far higher than anyone ever expected. I understand emotions are running high, but the reaction on here towards him is getting close to the entitled shame we said go ourselves we wouldn't be like.

The subs were bizarre today but for me we not the reason we lost. We should have killed the game off long before they came on - if Miggy's shot goes in it is a different result.  The two goals were errors - Botman was just unlucky for the 1st. The second Bruno gave the ball away far too cheaply. Both finishes clinical.

Don't think the players were good enough today at all.

Not a managerial issue today for me. Regardless of the defensive approach, we did not execute in that regard or in finishing off the game with a man advantage.

We just didn't do in the second half what we did in the first - attack down the left.  Gordon was just on fire.  In the second half soo many times Gordon was free, calling for the ball, and it didn't come, the same happened when Barnes came on.

You had Alisson saving it onto the bar from Almiron, Almiron smashing over at the back stick, Barnes through with an easy square ball to Wilson and Almiron hitting the post. Joelinton and Gordon also smashed efforts straight at the keeper.

Then you have Nunez, two half chances, two goals and a lesson in how to be clinical.

Bar the shot on the post from Miggy we barely troubled them in the second half.

We created enough chances to kill the game.

We didn't - Keeper hardly had to make any saves. That was our problem.  Second half we just didn't target the left as we had done in the first and kept trying to play it through the lines. So many times first Gordon, then Barnes just not getting the ball.

That's an interesting one. Obviously we need a better option than him if we're going to establish ourselves as real trophy hunters, and I do feel a bit nervous about the amount of game time he's probably going to get this season. However, he's obviously a crucial part of the dressing room and there'd be something incredibly nice to see him line up in a Champions League game for us. He deserves that moment for his absolutely brilliant service to the club.

Seems a plausible link given their recruitment style and current CBs. Picked up Daniel Amartey on a free from Leicester this summer and appears to have gone straight in the team.

Is he a crucial part of the dressing room though? He's club captain but it's always Tripps welcoming the new players to the club.  I'm not saying he's not an influence but crucial?  Way more to gain with him leaving than staying imo.

I think the Saudi Pro-League stands a chance of gaining a meaningful European audience if some of their teams start competing in UEFA competitions. I'd wager that, as it stands, none of the teams mean anything to the vast majority of people - certainly in terms of the British audience. As long as that's the case, it'll never gain sustainable interest, regardless of which players turn up there. I'd even argue that the casual observer would have difficulty telling teams apart given most of them start 'Al-' and all of the squads seem to have the same mix; i.e. predominantly Saudi with a few South American unknowns and a few household names doing the payday thing.

My assumption is that UEFA would resist any attempts from Saudi to enter the UCL or Europa competitions, but - then again - they could consider an 'enemies closer' approach. Rather than keep them at arms length whilst there's a growing perception that the Saudi Pro League is on the up; let them in, have them get routinely battered by Croatian sides and Swedish sides, thereby emphasising the hierarchy.

Should be interesting over the next few years, whatever happens, but there definitely needs to be more to their strategy then just player recruitment. If it wasn't Saudi I'd be wishing them all the luck in the world; a proper agitator to get UEFA sweating could breed some positive outcomes, who knows?

If they did let the clubs in the CL where does that leave Newcastle?

  9. There is no doubt Miggy has improved as a player over the last 12 months but there is also no doubt for us to take the next step steep we need better players.  Diaby for example would have fit that bill.

Maybe but Man Utd have spent close to £1.6 billion since Fergie retired in 2013 and that hasn’t resulted in a title win, why is it City spending has got us where we are but the same isn’t levelled at other clubs.

Man U can spend billions as they have the commercial income - the fact it hasn't resulted in success is down to spending it badly.  City didn't have the same commercial income so found 'ways' to get round it - but spent well on the whole - so got success.

No we were found innocent, do you really think an investigation like that with UEFA would of found us innocent on a time barred with a serious accusation like this.

    Incorrect...

it does not mean they did not do anything wrong. The wording of CAS's release says some breaches were "not established" while others were "time-barred" which suggests the statute of limitations

Go on explain to me how City are bent as fuck ?

You weren't found innocent with UEFA you just got out of the CL ban via a technicality (time barred).  Hence why it was reduced to a fine - but the club was still found guilty if it.  Personally I don't agree with FFP rules, they are clearly there to protect the income of the established teams however, they exist so all the all the clubs have to follow the rules.  Let's see if the PL can fair better than UEFA but they are basically fighting a state with endless resources.
