It’s not just the capacity we need to expand, our corporate facilities are holding the club back on the pitch. Someone posted an infographic recently on match day revenues and I was staggered to see how poorly we compare to the other big clubs.

A new stadium on leazes park is the best of all options in my opinion. A new stadium which maximises capacity, commercial revenue, built specifically to create a cauldron acoustically, fanzone in a new park area on the current site. The only downsides I can see are based in nostalgia (which I understand is a major factor for some).

You could easily add more corporate facilities at St James' - unfortunately it'll come at the cost of actual fans.  But tbh that'll be their focus now anyway.

I don't know that reference but SJP not resembling it's older self in terms of scale, architecture, etc doesn't detract from its symbolism and its role as a fundamental part of the club's (and city's) character, imo. On the contrary, tbh; I love having that tangible evidence of growth and change. That's also why the last stand I would change would be the East Stand.

    Nailed it ^

70k would be the sweet spot for me. Would move us above West Ham and behind Old Trafford as the 2nd biggest stadium in the UK. Would still be full every week as well. If we were building a new stadium that would be an ideal capacity.

However I'd also be happy with staying at SJP if we could redevelop the Gallowgate and East Stands to maybe get us up to 65k or thereabouts.

Personally I couldn't careless about our capacity against other stadiums.  For me it's all about staying at St James and having numbers such that it will boost our commercial revenue sufficiently.

  4. Using modern tech I am sure they will be able to expand the capacity at St James' but the question is what is an acceptable capacity?  If they add an extra 8,000 seats is that enough? Obviously there is a limit.

Seen quite a few videos of Tonali but I think this one is my favourite of him doing various things. I think and hope that he will be used as box to box as I reckon that’s his best role. Like the idea that he can drop deeper at times too to alternate with Bruno. Think he’s best to the right/left of a midfield three. Alternatively in a double pivot with freedom to roam forward. No matter what, I like that he is very all round and versatile and can play various roles.

The pressing :giggs: looking at his heat map from other vids he's some engine as well.

They replaced the Mayfair with the Gate. Progress.

Is it? Gate is pretty soulless. The Mayfair was an 'awesome' venue - I know which I would prefer.

    A crime. [emoji38]

It's a small and inconsequential building in a part of town that nobody visits. Even the guy who owns it is willing to see it go. Just knock the fucker down.

Honestly, the way some people talk about these buildings you'd think that that it was Grey Street that was under threat.

He is willing to let it go for money. He is probably already counting the cash.  He couldn't care less about expanding the stadium.  They are Grade 2 listed buildings for a reason.

The guy who owns St James' Terrace is interviewed here and all but admits he'd sell it to the club if they wanted to bulldoze it. He also believes it would be allowed to be demolished.

As much as I love football - it'd be a crime to knock down those buildings. Just wiping more history from the City.

  9. He's tripling his salary, he's joining the next big project, he'll be playing in the best league in the world, he'll be playing infront of 52k each week - yeah I'm sure he's gutted.

  10. This transfer just show's what a professional outfit we've become.  Clinical - identify a target and get the deal done.  No fuss, no drama.

No more clinging onto hope when David Craig  would tell us that Ashley's Helicopter is fuelled and ready.  Thank God those days are gone..
