How good is it to be linked with these types of players and actually being in with a shout of getting them
-
Just a Coincidence....?

Would anyone care if we bought him for £50mil? I'd just been happy if we signed him - without a doubt he'd improve us.

50 million bids seem to be last summers 30 million.
Similar to the Barella bid, don’t think we have a chance on this one either. It’s exciting to see the level we are targeting though.
I wouldn't say 'No chance' as we've seem if a player 'wants' to move then it strengthens our hand. And if it's true we'd be willing to double his salary from 50k to 100k then there is every possibility his head could be turned.

That’s incorrect, they are only in trouble if they don’t sell a homegrown player, mason mount to ManU will balance the FFP books for this season
Well they haven't sold him yet and even if they do it'll not be for the price they want. And that alone doesn't open the doors to allow them to spend big again, that needs more sales and PIF have just gifted them what they need. Am amazed people aren't even the least bit suspicious. We're not talking one or two players being pursued it's potentially half a team.

Sorry - I disagree.

That thread explains exactly why it could be and is very likely to be exactly that - pure coincidence. As if they're doing it deliberately, man, howay
Chelsea are in big trouble with FFP. No Champions League football and already over a hundred million in debt. Yet out of the blue low and behold PIF (who just happen to have billions invested in Clearlake) come to solve their problem. And you really think that is just a coincidence?

Exactly could be billions - PIF taking the cast offs from Chelsea cannot be pure coincidence and is probably the reason why Chelsea went on a crazy spending spree.

He needs to get that transfer request in - they'll not want to keep an unhappy player.

They have a stake in a PE firm that has many investments. One is Chelsea. If Disney sponsors Man United it doesn't mean PIF are sponsoring man United.

It would balance out if they could throw money on one of our fringe players but it cannot happen.

Saudi league will end up the way of Chinese league, you build small not at an extreme rate with insane money
Can't compare it to the Chinese League- Saudis have far deeper pockets. Am not comfortable with this at all.

Chelsea have to be the luckiest team in the world. Even after a catastrophic year of terrible signings and from windows before that, they’re going to make most of their money back, as it conveniently coincides with the exact time Saudi are investing in their league.
It is far from luck - it's football manipulation. Almost as if it was planned.

to get the World Cup?

Not going to the Saudi League either - fair play.

If we’d sold a player for 47 million in last year of their contract to a Saudi team, the usual suspects would be calling for a PL investigation right now.
Not a dicky bird will be said if other clubs are benefitting from the Saudi riches though, just hope our owners aren’t giving a leg up to rivals here for the transfer window.
We are basically the only club that can't benefit from the Riches and so I'll not be happy if it gets clubs like Chelsea out the hole they are in

Just will ruin what is left of the integrity of football. I have no doubt PIF care more about improving their own league that any impact of their actions on the competitiveness of Newcastle's rival clubs.

Unfortunately it’ll just be like the Chinese league and players taking a last pension fund, the big clubs will be rubbing their hands at the chance to get rid of big earners near the end of their contract.
Not sure like - this feels different.
