  1. When he was coming through as a youth player he played further forward. Think it was 2009 when their U17 won the World Cup. Feels a bit like the Mikel situation that he has become pigeonholed as a deeper player because he's robust and aggressive. Aye makes sense as he seems to know what he's doing when he gets forward. He's been all over the park and getting into some great attacking positions
  2. Xhaka's much better in a midfield three with less defensive responsibility
  3. Chelsea must be fuming. Those two Arsenal goals are hilarious
  4. We’ll sign Jorgensen with money that was supposedly already available and the £15m for Mitro will disappear into fresh air. Mitrovic won't play for us ever again unless Gayle and Joselu get injured at the same time. What's the point in keeping him? He won't be played, regardless of how good or shit people think he is. I'd rather we have someone who Rafa wants and will actually play. This is a perfectly feasible scenario though...? Still think Perez would be used then tbh
  5. Would prefer him to leave the PL mind so this thread doesn't get bumped every time he does something bad/good
  6. First offer £8m, second offer £15m. Mike would have a heart attack if that was suggested
  7. Barkley's been involved more in about two minutes on the pitch than a lot of players have in the whole game
  8. Great pass by Iwobi there to Wilshere
  9. Azpilicueta's delivery is great
  10. Same, although presume his wages are very high

    Rafa Benítez

Streets behind Robson,Keegan and Joe Harvey on that scale He's suggesting that he would win a trophy, which would automatically make him better than Keegan and Robson. Nah
  12. Suarez, Van Persie, Van Nistlerooy, Kuyt and many more. I think it's just more of a lottery than normal really. I think if you watch them as players rather than their league, you'll probably get a better idea. I think the only player who looked brilliant before arriving and then wasn't, was probably Kezman. Vincent Janssen. AZ. App: 34. Goals 27 Spurs. App: 27. Goals 2. Theres many. I think striker wise. Van Nistelrooy and Suarez are the exception. To carry 20 plus goals over into the EPL. It just worries me that league, equally scotland would if we got Dembele. I think the situation we are in and unable to sign proven, presents a risk, a gamble. Just dont be dismissive of that. I wouldn't be the kind of dick to say I told you so, I font know the player, but it still worries me. The drop is now ony 3pts. Is he our saviour? Equally there is no need to be so dismissive of the Eredivisie even though Dutch football is going through a very rough patch. It is my contention more world class forwards have spent their formative years in Dutch academies or learnt their trade in this league than in English ones in recent decades. I’ll simply say: Romario, Van Basten, Gullit, Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooij, Kluivert, Mackaaij, Van Persie, Robben, Ibrahimovic, Suarez and that’s me probably forgetting a few good ones too. No need to go on like we’re some football backwater. Well we are at the moment, but plenty of players have been developed here, and plenty more will follow. Don't think anyone is disputing that the Netherlands and the Eredivisie have developed some great players in the past, more than most leagues as you say. Recently though, that isn't the case. The reaction would be the same if it was a 27 year old coming from Belgium or Switzerland for example

Afonso Alves I don't think he looked brilliant like. Only the 45 goals in 39 games tbf

  15. The more concerning thing is that nobody that I've seen who watches him play regularly thinks he can be a success here
  16. Dembele was also class in the Championship as an 18/19 year old for Fulham. Really highly rated in France, got into the provisional France squad at the start of this season, had a hat trick for their u21s lately too
  17. Aye I would also much prefer Dembele if he's available
  18. Not that tall 189cm isn't "that tall" 5'10" to 6'2" normal. Anything above/below that tall/short IMO Average height of a man in the UK is 175.3cm. Even in Serbia he's higher than the average, which is 182cm. Aye he's taller than average alright. He's actually only a cm less than Jorgensen according to wiki. I guess lanky was the word I was looking for to describe Jorgensen rather than tall

  20. He's a tall, slow striker from the Eredivisie. Easy to see why people are negative about it tbh
  21. Watched his goals from last season. Looks decent technically but massive proportion of the goals came from clownish keeping/defending
