It's impossible to compare across eras really. Maradona had to deal with countless awful challenges and terrible pitches but on the other hand the standard of play is much quicker and better now and tactics have come on so much. There was a book written about the 1990 World Cup with insights from coaches/players recently and the only two teams that played with proper clear tactics were Argentina and Ireland. Jack Charlton said when he took the Ireland job that he had been at the 1986 World Cup and every team played the same way, slow build up and give it to the playmaker and the team with the best playmaker would win, which they did. Its impossible to single handedly win at the highest level these days, no matter how good you are

There was about 4 red card offences in that video. If England had 7 men he wouldn't have needed to handball it

Who was the cheat again?

8-2 over two games against Sparta Prague  And Rangers the far better team and better run club now despite being three leagues below 8 years ago. Celtic’s turn to be Scotlands laughing stock again. How quickly things change in football, we should keep that in mind when taking the p*ss out of the mackems, especially in an Ashley era. Bit early to say Rangers are a better run club like

Lennon surely gonna get sacked

How come? The other day he basically implied that those who used to play football like Southgate, knew better than fans. Painted fans as thick and had secondary opinions to ex pros. Which is one of mine main gripes of modern football. Fans IMO are the lifeblood of the game and are often much more in tune with reality. He was also once putting down parents who watch their kids and want their kids to succeed in the game (whether likely or not), which annoyed me. Most great footballers probably had a parent pushing them to get better and better. It doesnt mean they dont love their kids FFS. Just gripes of mine with him. None of the above is fact by the way, it was just the way he was coming off. Which disappointed me. I'd be pretty sure the majority of footballers think that fans know absolutely nothing about football. Kolarov said this last year, "The fans have a right to be annoyed, we respect that, but they must be conscious of the fact they know nothing about football."

Surely could have postponed Come Dine with Me or whatever and put it on at a decent time

Aye, he's class. Great ball in for the first goal. 0-2 now
-
Napoli naming the San Paolo after him apparently
-
Being reported everywhere now unfortunately. The world of football is much worse for his loss
-
That game and the Maradona subplot was the best game in the World Cup

Most iconic footballer of all time? RIP, if true

Sabitzer is so good

Sevilla can't win the Europa now

No way mate sorry, nowt wrong with it. That’s before Fernandez touches the ball, Chilwell knows he’s got there too early He hasn’t even touched him on that picture It was goal. Good use of VAR not that it was needed. He's kicked him in the back of the leg like
-
Really bad defending by Fernandez
-
Father Ted cancels that out

It could have leaked from anybody though. It was being investigated by the FAI before it got out in the media so could have been anyone in the FAI as well as players/management

Yes, although not as many. 3 in the squad for the English game, all very committed players. We'd have to see what the video actually was, most sources seemed to think it was harmless and pro-Irish rather than anti-English. Alan Kelly, the goalkeeping coach seemed to be the one with the biggest issue with it, which is odd as he's been involved as either a player or coach since the mid 90s when the players literally sang rebel songs on the way to games. He's English born and raised but that's just because his dad was a footballer over there and won loads of caps for us.
-
Bit different like considering we haven't done anything to you in the past like you did to us
-
Alan Kelly, the goalkeeping coach. Strange one because he's been involved in the set up in some way since the mid 90s and will definitely have heard worse
-
Think that's been disproven since. RTE reporting it as this "RTÉ Sport understands that two-and-a-half minutes of the video was famous goals scored against England, followed by 30 seconds of "historical context" of the relationship between Ireland and England". Much ado about nothing anyway. Watched In The Name of The Father for the first time a few weeks ago myself btw, great movie

That doesn't sound right. Have all his CL goals just happened to be on a Tuesday?
