Neither of these players should be at this tournament and to start both against a team who is going to defend for 90 minutes is just incompetence. Taking a gamble when 3 of the best four teams in the competition will in all likelyhoods be on this side of the draw is crazy, and spain are nothing like where they used to be.

Even though we're not playing particularly well this season, we've got a good squad, however if we're competing against teams like Swansea (and Chelsea hehe) to stay up then it's going to be tough. The quality (or at least the performances) of the lower quality PL teams has been astonishingly impressive during the first half of the season.

Some of the Pardew histeria on this board is unbelieveable. Its bloody obvious and has been for the entirety of his time here that Ashley is not a good chairman either as a fan, a player or a manager. Pardew was an average manager for us, we could have had a lot better, but how many games have we won since he left? Losing Pardew was never going to do anything to fix the problems with this club, so I really can't understand the level of hatred he receives. When I think about some of the other dross we've had in our time (Souness, Allardyce, Kinnear) he doesn't even compare to those assholes.
