But why ... you guys act as though no other players exist out there. Best case scenario we get a couple of seasons out of him, before we then need to go and get a younger player anyway. He's hardly a world class player either, so there's just no need for it man.
I think it's an awful idea. Let Gini stay where he is on the bench. Couldn't believe he turned down Barcelona to join them last year. We shouldn't be the one's to go pulling him out of that mess.

Absolutely no reason why we can't at least be competing for 7th. West Ham, Wolves and Leicester were certainly nothing special last season.
West Ham were very good last season and are arguably looking to improve just as much as us this summer.

If a random tout who I’m never gonna see again sold me a ST card I’d absolutely leave with it. That’s not discounting the pissed up people at a match, I don’t doubt what you’re saying but how on earth does the logistics work? He has to track 30 people are a stadium with tickets who he doesn’t know? That seems impossible and basically his guarantee is “trust me I’ll meet you after”?
Seems absolutely insane to me. I get why they scalp GA tickets but ST seems incredibly convoluted. Next to zero chance I bother meeting that guy again after the match
Why are you leaving with a piece of plastic that will be cancelled within a day of the game? As I've already said he doesn't meet you after the game - all the tickets are in the same block so he walks around after 80 mins or so and picks them back up himself. It's really not that hard to imagine

And when he does that multiple times a season? Does he have 30 addresses? The system doesn’t red flag that?
He doesn't do it multiple times a season because nobody is stupid enough to try and run off with it because it would be cancelled and completely pointless
I imagine he has a few addresses yes, I don't know him personally. I also don't know how Arsenal's ticketing system works so not sure what you want me to say.

Yeah that’s mad, I’ve bought tickets but never ever a ST, and I’ve been going for nearly 20 years, and I’ve never seen anyone selling STs. Individual match tickets sure, STs never. Why wouldn’t the buyer just leg it with them card? What’s the tout gonna do, ring the police? You could walk out of the match with a discounted ST
Then he just rings the box office and cancels the card as he's lost it.

Fair enough I have never seen that in my life. How long ago are you talking? also how does that work, what address does he get all these cards sent to? 30 different places? Seems a lot of trouble for minimal profit
Two years ago. He meets you outside the ground, gives you the ticket, you go in, he comes around 5 mins before the end and picks them all back up from you. It will make him around £5k per game (obviously cheaper at NUFC).
They have never checked the name on the turnstile at NUFC in the history of me going so not sure how that's relevant. Doesn't it just flash a different light if you are a junior?

Im aware people scalp tickets at football, if you can point me to people scalping ST I’d be very interested to see it as I’ve literally never seen it.
A concert ticket is used once. You go to the gig, you leave. Most don’t have your name printed on them, hence why they get touted regularly. How is that comparable to an electronic card with your name on, that is used every two weeks? It’s not at all.
As posted above I have literally bought from a tout before at Arsenal.

Yeah, which is fine but I don’t think that supports the idea that they were avoiding bots, who even would bot for a ST? My issue is the date, 2019 is a very strange pick.
Ticket touts bot for STs, as I mentioned above. I've bouight tickets in the home end from a tout for Arsenal Newcastle before. He goes around the section and picks up the 30 or so STs he has at the end of the game.

Don’t agree really, a ST is tied to a name, it’s not like a concert ticket, there is a very low possibility of the average fan employing bots, it’s not a shoe launch. Plus they allowed multiple per account anyway which defeats the point. Why not set the date back to when Rafa was here? I think that’s fair
It's not the average fan who does it. It's the tout who wants to make money off multiple STs and it absolutely does happen at football. Not sure what you mean by the tied to a name point, a concert ticket is tied to a name. Ticket touts know how to do it.

Just gives you double or triple the chance of getting in… if all of you are in the queue. That would be no different if only 1 per supporter number was allowed though. People just log in on multiple devices/ get their mates to queue online for them . There's always ways to increase your chances.

That’s fine, I still don’t agree with it though. Plucking some arbitrary date 2 years ago, is in my opinion completely ridiculous. I’ll stick to free tickets if that’s how it is
As people have said they had to do this otherwise bots would have taken up the entire queue.

So we all agree it should have been a ballot system instead?
It was a ballot system.

Have to say the linked members thing is a bit of a kick in the teeth, but I hold no malice against anyone who got them and used it to their advantage.
just hope whoever got them gets behind the team and nee moaning on.
I disagree with this tbh. Cap it at 2 people if you have to but otherwise you'd have 1,000 STs sitting on their own

So do you just log in tomorrow before 10 and you find out then?
Never bought a ticket on the system at that time before so unaware of how it works
Yeah I’d be interested to know if you need to log on much earlier to avoid a queue just to get online.

I'm quite excited to see who we move onto after Ekiteke, but one thing that would piss me off is if we are chasing impossible signings. If Harrison or Raphina are realistic targets, then great. But I don't want to spend a month with us playing maybe only to be told no deal at the end of it.
We have a lot of time on our hands to be fair. Everyone was saying Botman would be impossible but it looks like a hell of a lot of time and effort went into it. It's worth it sometimes. Raphinia seems more realistic (that he'll leave, not that he'll come to us) due to his contract situation so would love to go all in on him.

Follow up is even worse. No money and Harrison main target.
I can't see how Harrison is realistic. Leeds will have brought in £100m minimum through Philips and Raphinia so will be asking stupid money for him.

It will be this - perhaps a “loan fee”, covering the wages and signing him permanently on a free next summer. Everybody’s happy.Yep. We’ll get some money for Darlow I’d think but there’s no way we received anything significant for Woodman other than the cost of his wages.

Has there been any mention at all of a fee? Would be really interested to see what we fetched.
3m?
Not a chance. -

You are incorrect on this, the total fee inc and probable extras gets split over the contract term. Adding a loan period upfront would delay the start of the contract term however.
100%. Will teach me not to spout off about things I’m not sure I haven’t got the wrong end of the stick about.Apologies to the poster I quoted for being so confident I wasn’t talking out of my arse

Yeah whether you pay all up front or in instalments over time makes no difference to FFP.
Completely wrong. Any instalments not paid this year will only count towards FFP in the season they are ultimately paid, so it obviously makes sense to push back as much of the transfer fee as possible so that we only have to worry about that in future windows. -
