  1. Might buy one player in the £15M-£20M band, but we could really do with 4 coming in. The type of player is incredibly important as well, not solely the price tag.

We brought Murphy for £12M, but he has done very little to further our cause.

But that won't account for the players we miss out on in the £15M, £20M, £30M areas because we just won't pay/won't get deals done. Despite them no doubt available to us, willing to come, but ending up at clubs elsewhere in the league.

  2. Bit knee jerk that I think. God forbid had Southampton been slightly better, and we'd been a little unlucky - came away 1-1 there is not a chance that sort of think is being written. Thankfully that wasn't the case, Southampton we're admittedly poor, but we played well and saw them off convincingly.

Jamaal Lascelles strode around the turf at full time on Saturday as the rain fell to take acclaim and share relief with supporters who have bought into his heart. Every day Benitez makes him a better player. Florian Lejeune, a £10m signing in the summer, is not a Championship player. Paul Dummett, finally serenaded by his own club’s supporters, is a quality Premier League defender. Jonjo Shelvey is not Championship, nor Mo Diame, nor Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle, who ran 80 yards for an assist on the second goal.

In my book though that doesn't suddenly make the above true, and makes for rather embarrassing reading off the back of one game. All players mentioned there had good games yesterday, and have had their form pick up of late, but that can't suddenly hide worrying performances they have shown this season - in which they have thoroughly looked Championship.

Hopefully everyone can keep close to recent levels until end of the season - then write that.

  3. Diabete really? He's been in the Prem like two mins. Far too early to say he's as good as or better than Zaha.

Probably a stretch that one to be fair, but so far he's played just as well as Zaha I'd say. Sort of backing up my point that Zaha isn't doing enough.

  4. Zaha is far superior.

The stats might be similar but Zaha is a menace for 90 minutes and plays like a talisman.

He gets Palace up the pitch. Holds up the ball well. Wins a bunch of freekicks and penalties (goals scored from these aren't counted as assists anymore). Is progressive with his passing. In an old fashioned way he just rips fullbacks to pieces, they have to bring in the winger or CB for protection creating space for others. He's the type of player you need to watch for 90 minutes to perhaps understand the hype.

Can get what you're sayinh there. Not saying he isn't a bad player for Palace, as he clearly makes them a better side. Just think he's put on a pedestal as an amazing player - but ultimately when you strip back what he's contributing in games, I don't think it stacks up.

He's got flair, and ability to run with the ball, and do something unexpected, but there are many players around who may not be as quick, or have a different style but are better with their product on the ball. Alrighton for one, unfashionable, but would rate him higher personally - maybe just my take on players.

Just think Zaha should be doing way way more than what he is to be meriting praise he's given.

  5. Got more talented aye, clear as day that. Granted he's a bit younger too, but doesn't do anything near enough to merit how highly rated he is. The best player outside top 6 stuff that has been said is mental.

Mahrez, Vardy, Gylfi (possibly although not really this season) and possibly Shaqiri. Can't think of too many attackers outside the top 6 as good as Zaha. Might be missing someone obvious

Would agree on those. Just don't get how he's rated so well, when he's not really scoring that many or assisting for Palace. Plenty of players in the league with as good as numbers as Zaha. Looks good on the eye, but totally overated in my book.

Would have plenty of players playing outside top 6 here that are equally as good, if not better than Zaha given the chance - Shaqiri, Arnautovic, Laznini, both Ayew's, Wilson, King, Propper, Gross, Izguierdo, Perreya, Richarlison, Delefeou, Mahrez, Alrighton, Diabate, Gudmondsson

FWIW think Gross is one of best player playing outside 6, along with Mahrez

  6. Was offside but no mention from comms.

Looked pretty clear, but not sure it was. Linesman not in great position...

Isn't the a rule that if your in advance of the last defender when passing it isn't offside - or have I just made that up

  7. Good on the West Ham fans.

 that knacker trying to plant the flag in the centre circle. Also, what's going on with Sullivan's Goebbels coat?

It was a reference to protests over something called the Bond Scheme that West Ham tried to implement in the early 90s (which I just read on KUMB).

Just reading through their match thread...

Someone predicted it few mins before it happened which I thought was weird.

Some lad getting grief in the queue for a beer before the game for not being 'proper West Ham' too apparently  :idiot2:

  8. Charlton Athletic's protest we're pretty decent a season or so ago..

Not buying any food or drinks at the ground, Lobbing plastic pigs and beach balls onto the pitch. Doubt anyone would be able to reach West Ham's pitch though.

Obviously better ways to go about things than today, but English football fans as a collective are pretty useless at thinking for the greater good when it comes to protests. So even it being a tiny minority, it had huge effect.

  9. West Ham TV, jesus christ. So cliche, even more so than Arsenal Fan TV. So cockney it looks like it hurts. The interviewer is impressively fat, like that must have taken some doing. Fruits of his labour from all the time in the battlecruiser sinking King Lear down his north and south no doubt.

Everyone is wearing a flat cap, as if by someway to clarify they haven't actually lost their east end roots at all and have come straight from work in the docks, despite the fact they likely moved out to zone 6 20 years ago.

The first guy is chewing his face off too :cheesy:

  10. All going wong here for Woy.

Can't quite believe that Benteke used to be good when he played for Villa.

He was good towards the end of last season too. His record for Liverpool wasn't bad either.

Have to look at himself and Woy

It’s not happening for him in front of goal, but someone like him would improve us immeasurably as a team.

Not sure about that me. Seems a right lazy turd every time I see him, simple fact that he isn't scoring nor looking like scoring for Palace would probably go against him setting the world alight in this team.

  11. Was annoyed with Stelling having a go at the West Ham fans.

What other choice do fans have these days?

Seriously? The West Ham fans were a disgrace

 Someone with sense. Can't believe so many people jump to defend such aggressive, disrespectful & provocative behaviour from a group of football supporters & grown men. Embarrassing man, for both those taking part and those defending it.

Give over man. This is a fairly timid response from fans when you consider fans from other countries.

Happen to think the knobs running on the pitch is a bit misguided, but no problem with fans kicking up a fuss at Gold etc. in the ground.

What would you suggest? Strongly worded letters, petition to their local MP...

  12. Thought the fans going round directors box is something of nothing anyway. Was expecting far worse than what it seems!

Tons of space to all group round in that place anyway.

Fans on the pitch are a bit daft, but guess it's getting a job quicker than countless protests and marches nobody gives a toss about.
