  1. An interesting day. My advice to you all, is to make sure your fridge works.

Greg[/member] is a legend so I'm not having a go..... but I really wonder what has gone wrong (if anything) since this day of supreme confidence  :undecided:

It wasn't a day of supreme confidence in terms of anything imminent, just confidence that it will get done - the point was that what I'd heard (and I have no direct links to anyone involved in this and so it's all second / third hand so usual pinch of salt) was that there remains confidence on both sides that deal will go ahead but they don't know when. So make sure your fridge works to keep those cans chilled and ready for when the announcement comes out of the blue, whenever that may be.

Nobody likes warm beer, or champagne in my case - I'm on a low carb diet.

So no better than any 3rd rate journo or Steve wraith. Thought better of you. You're in a privileged position as a fan, you should know that implications of reporting back to us like that and refrained from it.

At least we all know now not to listen to you.

Is he the ginger haired kid who has been getting himself on the TV and radio?

Another one at NUST who seems way more interested in building a profile for himself than report accurately what's going on or properly representing the fanbase.

  2. At some point the buyers have to say enough is enough, you're now impacting our business plan, we're losing out on targets and even managerial candidates. Equally Ashley could be investing that money in to rescuing businesses and potentially saving jobs but can't because the PL are moving at a snails pace.

And the PL won't be bothered.

Thry will be when they are at least sued for £17m. I'm sure both parties could find other losses to account for.

No one will be suing the Premier League for £17m if it gets blocked.  The contracts will all have been drawn up "subject to receiving the necessary clearance from the Premier League".  If the Premier League block the deal Ashley will return the money to the Saudi's.

  3. The club is in limbo until this is resolved, no one right now is running Newcastle United. Just get it sorted ffs.

Totally agree. The club is drifting along aimlessly with an owner who doesn't want to be there and there are issues that need addressing...fan ticket refunds being one of them. I think the people at nufctsust should be pressuring the PL to get this sorted asap, as it's definitely have a detrimental effect on the club and the fanbase.

    Where's Greg?

    I'm here.

We are doing what we can on the season ticket issue - the club don't give a s*** unfortunatley.

On the takeover - I don't think there's any value in us doing anything with the PL - the O&D test is what it is and will be done when it is done - there's nothing we or anyone else can do to speed up or put pressure on that process.

What about the cup tickets?  They should be refunding those by now.

  4. The thing is, I reckon under Benitez while he may not have been much better, he’d have been better. Either in terms of coaching, positioning, holding shape, etc.

What, like Benitez improved Lazaar you mean? Absolute rubbish mate, both your opinion and the pair of them.

  5. As useless as I think Bruce is, there is a department of fitness staff at the club and the players will obviously have been given fitness regimes to follow during the lockdown. It's still a Premier League football operation - not a good one - but at least the minimum requirements will have been done. It's just a question of how effective they are. Which I imagine not very. For instance if, when we start up again, ASM pulls his hamstring after his first meaningful sprint, like that Spurs away game, would I be surprised? No. But it doesn't mean he wasn't given a fitness regime to follow for the past two months.

Correct. The club still has a decent (not great) fitness and medical set up. The difference is in how their advice is used - Rafa trusted the advice and the data - Bruce prefers to go with a players gut feeling and hence has often caused further injuries buy playing clearly not match fit or fully recovered players.

Sorry, but this is nonense.  He fell out with ASM earlier in the season for doing the exact opposite of what you suggest here.

  6. My brother had to cancel his direct debt renewal at the start of the year haing been made redundant a few weeks before last Christmas so he's only been able to go once this year on my ticket when I couldn't make it.  He's now got a ticket until the end of the season with this offer and will probably renew next year now he has a new job.  Amongst all the people complaining about this offer there are some genuine fans who it's been good for.

  7. Schar and Lejuene are fit, its just obvious he prefers cloggers.

Lejeune had a minor set back in his recovery having been almost ready.  Irony is if he'd brought him back in he'd have got grief for rushing players back too soon like he did with ASM earlier in the season. Just can't win.

  8. Shearer was at it last night like with the whole ‘better off than this time last year’ crap.

It's not crap though. At this point we are better off than last year. Whether it lasts is up for debate / probably unlikely, but at the minute it's a fact. That doesn't mean Bruce is a better manager, just that we are doing better at present.

This not been bumped yet? Again it may not last but there can't be any argument he's doing well at the minute.

    :morph:

You did this the other day, posted something totally irrelevant to the point that had been made.

Are definitely OK? Can we get someone for you?

I spelled it out in the match thread but can repeat it here if you want a breakdown.

Nah, probably best keeping all the irrelevant stuff in the one place.

  9. What did he say?

"A missed opportunity. I am okay with that performance, it was always going to be difficult against a team that never shifted. The first goal is really important and it is super difficult when you go behind against a team like Newcastle.

"I was told at the start of the season that the linesman would not put his flag up and let it go. He put his flag up and the referee was about to blow his whistle.

"Everyone in the ground stopped. Jonjo Shelvey even nonchalantly went up and took an opportunity. His body language said to me he had seen the linesman had put the flag up and he was going to be offside.

"The game has changed. This game now is completely different to what I experienced as a 16-year-old lad as an apprentice. This game in a heartbeat has changed. I don't know where it is going and it is sucking the life out of me and the supporters."

"If we are going to go to all these tight calls and be super spot on with it, why did the linesman put his flag up? We've looked at it and it is tight. The game has completely changed and it sucked the life out of our players.

"I won't speak to the referee. We get so many mixed messages all the time. Jonjo didn't play to the end, he jogged up to the ball and all of a sudden got a bit excited and stuck it in. If he kept his flag down does Jonjo go through and my goalkeeper make a bit more effort?"

Imagine not knowing that that was Shelvey at full tilt.

  12. Don't really see the problem with AC starting like. He'll have already contributed as much as Joelinton in recent games just by standing on the turf in the warm up.

Yea, nowt to do with how Bruce uses him or owt

He's got no pedigree for scoring goals whatsoever and is visibly indecisive and lacks instinct or any form of threat. As said many times, it's very obvious why Rafa didn't want him - he isn't a premier league goalscorer and never will be, in any team, under any manager, no matter how he's used.

    Carroll or joelinton?

  13. Muto's gonna go isn't he? Him and Gayle could fetch a cool £4m between them.

Muto is exactly the sort we should be looking to get rid of.  Neither manager here has rated him.

But Bruce has come in specifically to coach the players we do bring in, so He got £80m worth of talent in Joelinton, Maximin and Almiron, now he needs to start getting goals out of them.

We have so many fans and tv pundits telling us how good he is, if he can't get that sort of investment to work, then what the HELL is going wrong??

Not sure how that's in any way relevant to Muto not being rated by either manager

But yeah the front three need to score more goals.  O0

  14. Nailed on we sell someone of value, maybe a Longstaff to balance the summer spend but fail to get anyone over the line, business is tough in January don't you know? Unless you're selling that is.

Six years i think since we sold someone of value in January, and that was Cabaye who went on strike to force a move.  Unless I've missed someone?

We've been in a relegation battle or chasing promotion every year since then.

If the fat w***** thinks we're safe and wants to gamble then he might do.

Recent history suggests not, so I don't think it's "nailed on" as much as was suggested.

And there lies the annoyance. While it may be a fact we've got more points than this stage last season, as you say that doesn't make Bruce a better manager. IMO merely quoting the 'Got more points' sentence suggests we're in better hands than under Rafa. We've got more points but this club IS NOT better off since the summer. It's a short sighted view to suggest we are.

How can you accuse me of being short sighted when I've actually said it's unlikely to last? That's part of the problem now people aren't allowed to judge anything in a positive way ever. The evidence is above with people claiming more points is irrelevant. Its not, its (however temporarily it may be) better.

Ignore he bigger picture, we've got points.

Thanks for proving my point in bold.
