  1. He’s made some howlers this season for sure but he’s also the glue that was keeping the side together.

I think he’s realising that he’s not needed nearly as badly as he was before and the football player brain inside him is not happy at all about it.

On current form there’s no way he’s getting in ahead of Walker or any number of young uns coming through.

Whatever shit has been going on, maybe problems at home and maybe a messy divorce coming up. He’s not helped himself there.

I don’t think he’s lost a step or anything, all his errors have been a lapse in concentration, things he should be so much better at.

Like it or not, he's under massive pressure next season.

I think he’s under massive pressure right now. Getting Europe after all the injuries this season would have been impressive but to be in the driving seat with 3 games to go and to pick up 1 point from 6 against two teams we can and maybe should beat, it’s going to raise questions.

They will stick with him but there’ll be a magnifying glass on him from the start of next season now.

On the other hand look at West Ham. The three Hammers I know have all said the atmosphere there is shit since their move.

I'm going to at least wait and see what the plans are for SJP. I very much doubt it'll be a bog standard "just extra tier" on the Gallowgate and there's also space to expand backwards from the Leazes and let's see how creative they can be with the East Stand.

True but that stadium was never built just for football. There’s also been a major disconnect between the owners and supporters there for a few years.

I think if we moved there’d of course be a period where things are being figured out.. singing sections etc..

But would also be great if they designed in safe standing from the outset, I assume that’s going to continue to be brought in?

  4. Look at Spurs last night. Widely accepted as the best ground currently in terms of a modern design but it was dead last night. No atmosphere at all. It’s the supporters who make it, or not as the case may be.

So the whole thing of the stadium being our heart and soul is rubbish.. it’s the fans and it always has been.

That’s why I wouldn’t be bothered at all if they moved to say the arena site. We’d bring that with us.

Mamardashvili is actually my dream signing this summer. Think he would change the way we played and have similar effect as Ederson and Alisson had on respective teams. Him, a good RW and the two frees seemingly take us to around the £100m mark in transfer fees. If we are dropping off the £120m from Jan 22 and whatever we spent in summer 2021, that could even leave a bit of flexibility for a striker, especially with a couple leaving and increase in revs, although wage bill is probably jumping a similar amount.

Despite reading about PSR on here and elsewhere I’ve no idea if my interpretation is even crudely correct.

Hard to know but this year will obviously be much improved revenue’s over the previous, how much of that we can spend is anyone’s guess.

I think we’ll need to sell, but rather than lose the Crown Jewels, it’ll be Wilson, Miggy, Murphy and maybe Longstaff and Dubravka who will move on.

That’s maybe 60m+ there depending on where they go.

  6. NUST are a lame duck now and have been pretty much since the takeover.

We needed an advocate when Ashley was here, not that he listened but we were pretty much voiceless if not for them.

But now, yes the club will make the odd mistake but social media has more sway in causing action than NUST do at this point.

I just see all this shit as an exercise in trying to stay relevant and more certainly playing to a certain section of the support.

    Planning permission incoming then?

It’s nowhere near that stage yet. When they decided what they want to do, then it’s over to the architects and other teams to work on a design. They’re not gonna pull that out of their arse, it all takes time.

  8. Likes a slide tackle obviously. Echo the sentiment about his highlights there. I saw a bunch of situations where he’s lunged in needlessly but that’s just the clip we’re looking at. He could well be better than that.

Hard to tell if we do that last ditch defending as much as Bournemouth.

I much prefer seeing clips of players just reading the game and snuffing out passes, Botmans was like that and Tosin’s too.

  9. Southgate doesn’t like to get his hands dirty by actually making any tough decisions. Perfect for the FA because he just goes through the motions and respects the hierarchy above him.

The players like him because he’s not a threat.

Then if the players succeed through collective ability he’s more than happy to pick up the plaudits.

He’d tick a lot of those boxes at Man Utd, a good company man.. and the players will like him because they’ll walk all over him and he’ll never let on he’s not in control.

But the amount of games in a season will soon find him out.

It’s a total myth that International football is the very highest level, at least tactically.

Stadium rebuilds aside, why couldn’t they just get someone up on the roof to repair a leak? Couldn’t cost that much surely.

Are they worried the whole thing is about to come down or something?

  11. He’s a right sided centre back? Does that mean Schär moves over, or are we gonna have the tallest CB pairing of all time with him and Burn?

Given the injuries, I see Kelly as more of a backup if we are in for him. I’m surprised we’re in for him at all to be honest given the problems we’ve had. No doubt he’s a good player but boots on the ground n all that.

Agree Tosin would likely be an immediate starter, well once Howe bloods him in.

If Botman comes back like the player we knew before, then there’s going to be some selection problems.

Are ACL’s as bad as they once were?

  12. I’m sure he’ll have his agent in his ear presenting him with options as he should as that’s his job.

But don’t think Bruno is fed up just yet. Another season without the problems we had this year and he’ll want to see how it goes.

  13. Best thing he can do is jet back home for the summer and try and remove himself from the tabloid shite. It will be endless.

Howe would not have said we’re planning for the next season with Bruno and Isak in the team, not start again etc.. and I believe him.

  14. Chelsea have been impressive since the new year. Not without their vulnerabilities but Poch has finally gotten a tune out of them, they’d be mental to sack him.

If we can’t win our remaining games then we don’t deserve 6th. I’m not overly bothered.

We would have a better chance at the lower competition in any case. A trophy is a trophy.

  16. The commercial deals and also the CL money should give us some opportunity to spend big once or twice this summer.

But 60m on a keeper? No chance.

Miggy out for 25m and someone at right forward in for around 35-40..

Wilson is the big decision, if they move him on we could get 10-15m for him. We could keep him but how many games will he miss?

No decent striker is cheap so that’ll be the other big one (if there is a big one).

    Couple of free’s (Tosin, Kelly)

The main decisions will be around deciding which of the injury prone players we have to stick with.

any idea if it's being made public?

documenting this whole thing for a YouTube/NUFCTV series would be very insightful, please

Oh am fairly sure Darren Eales will make some sort of statement on it in due course, am just trying to give a bit of reality to the process as there’s a whole bunch of us eager for some news. Nothing concrete will come quick.. if they do stay at SJP as what’s currently expected there’s a whole heap of work to get through before we ever see a render of the plans.

My hope would be that they opt for the Arena site before anything else goes in there. It couldn’t be much more than a 15/20 min walk from SJP and much closer to Central Station.

It would look amazing beside the river.

Nothing stopping us from keeping the lease on the land at SJP and building a state of the art conference centre with hotels, a casino, event venue etc. Revenue which could go back into the club.

  18. This hasn’t gotten anywhere near the architects yet. The report that they have had for at least a month at this stage only outlines options v RoI and external considerations (planning, metro etc). It won’t have even gotten to an estimate because that’s not what they do. Only what’s possible.

Once they have (a decision) and then all requirememts gathered into a document, they’ll be in discussions with civil planners, surveyors and architects before they eventually go with one.

Then it will need to be designed, then approved.. probably with changes, updated designs/drawings etc.

We’re a way off anything being announced that side of things. Probably 1-2 years.

It’s just always a very long process when working with an existing structure and planning considerations.

A whole new site/stadium would be a much easier venture but they seem to be stuck on the idea of staying.

I can think of a couple of bizarre alternatives. Mourinho, and the alternating coach thing. But I honestly don't think that he actually believed it when he suggested the latter either, which he basically said later.

I don’t think you quite understand what I meant by that or you just assumed something and ran with it.

I was never talking about hiring a new coach every two years.

What I meant was having someone, just for example sake.. someone like Rafa Benitez who could sit in a technical role.

Then at a point, I did say 2 years but I didn’t necessarily mean a 2 year rotation every time, what I meant was.. when the coach starts having burn out, that there’s someone who can step in and won’t upset the flow of things. Let the manager go off and recharge for a season.. do some learning like what Howe did when he was unemployed.

It was never about removing Howe from the setup, it was always about giving him the best chance for a much longer term project.
