  1. Man Utd fans either took the piss during the Ashley years or outright couldn’t give a fuck. Any attempt to engage with them sensibly would have been met with their cuntily arrogance insistence that (as the arbitrators of all football status) they had decided we were a tiny club anyway and therefore of no importance. So fuck them. Hope they rot.

Sheffield United is way more of a free win than what any team was last season though, certainly Leeds away was tougher. West Ham is a bit stronger now maybe, but not that much. You're right though, hasn't been the best of fixtures, but we're literally 15th place in the away table.

Both Manchester clubs laboured to a win at Sheffield, just because we were excellent that day doesn’t make it a ‘free win’

Weirdly sassy about something that has clearly had a massively galvanising effect on the support and the team, and meanwhile done absolute wonders for the club's image when there's been so much scrutiny due to the ownership. If WF walked away it would be a colossal loss.

Fair points. I was speaking in regards to this weird idea that we should feel emotionally blackmailed by them though. I’ll shout and sing if I fancy it, like everybody else, like football fans have forever. Of course I speak as a season ticket holder, which makes me the problem.

When they're singing and dancing with a couple of people specifically from Saudi Arabia, I don't think we're in a position to assume they're making carefully calculated political comment. Given the Arabians (Hejazians? Calling them Saudi is like naming us after the House of Windsor) are, at least to some extent, embracing associating with our region and it's drunk men and half dressed women, I find it striking that the response to overt warmth and odd couple cultural interface is greeted with  a chorus of :anguish: simply at the mention of the word Saudi. What else are they supposed to call them? Should they give these tourists the cold shoulder to avoid embarrassing easily embarrassed strangers on the internet? Or would that be a microaggression and a sign of Gammon mentality?

    Come off it, mate

Shame there's just the one televised PL game today. Obviously an extra match yesterday, so the same amount on Sky / BT, but 3 on one day is a bit overkill, especially on a Saturday when there's also the 3pms, and Sunday is usually my favourite day for just binge watching matches.

Milan vs Juventus could be OK on TNT Sports at 7.45pm, 2nd vs 3rd and obviously a little bit more interest with it involving the former, and ITV4 have Barcelona vs Bilbao at 8pm, but not quite the same as a PL match. Bilbao are doing reasonably well in the league, but was quite surprised to see that they were only 4/1 to win (away), and slightly shorter at some places, thought they would have been nearer 8s or 9s.

Do you watch the Scottish stuff?

I just don’t agree it’s an Illness. I don’t agree that any addiction is. You have no choice if you get cancer and you absolutely cannot get rid of it through willpower and lifestyle changes. Same with pretty much every other genuine illness. The mere fact that you can stop being addicted to something if you make enough changes makes it not an illness. A character trait maybe, a weakness definitely but calling these things a disease just feels like an excuse. “It’s not my fault I lost the house through gambling, it’s an illness”. It kind of absolves them of responsibility for their actions.

Maybe that’s harsh but I just can’t get on board with it. I have sympathy for them and I’m not suggesting it’s an easy thing to reverse but I just hate the rhetoric around it.

You sound like a nice person.

Newcastle 7-1 Leicester six goals up at half time 2 hat tricks rounds off a great season

Newcastle 6-1 Everton FA Cup replay

    Newcastle 8-0 Sheff Wed

Newcastle 5-1 Sunderland again for obvious reasons

    Antwerp 0-5 Newcastle

Many many more over the 45 years since i went to my first game

Is Newcastle 6-1 Everton meant to be Spurs? One of my favourite ever games that. I know it was weird having the Cup start in December, but that last home game before Christmas is always one of the first I look for and the date made that night even more magic

Remember how (understandably) cock a hoop they were when Dell wanted to buy them? Graphs showing Dell’s wealth compared to everyone else’s, threads discussing what it meant for the area etc.

But aye. Am sure they wouldn’t swap being in the 2nd tier with owners who have got the club living within its means.

Whatever happened to the Dell takeover? Genuinely. Would love a rtg link

  9. Think both extension and new stadium are beginning to look like wishful thinking. There has been no sign of intent on either since the new owners arrived going on two years ago.
