Don't think we are struggling that badly to attract players. Sure a lot of (most) players would rather prefer City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, but other than that we are a highly attractive place to go to. Don't think Wissa f.ex expects to start every game.

Thought rather Isak didn't bring that much other than his goals last season tbh. Useless target man, not a good presser.

It's not going to happen if we keep Isak, we can agree on that. But if we sell him and get a lot of room to upgrade the team that is the place I would start. I dont want to replace Joelinton, but I do want an alternative to him. He is irreplaceable in certain type of games, but goes missing in others. Has been racking up quite a few injuries lately aswell. We need to stop focusing on the best first XI anyways. It's not going to be set in stone with the amount of games we are going to have.

£140m is a whole lot of money though, probably only Newcastle fans who would think we got scammed on that. Have to take the "official" asking price with a grain of salt. Just look at Chelsea and their £80m asking price on Jackson. Won't say you are wrong though. It's a complicated situation with no easy answers imo.

Didn't forget, just listed 2 options per position. Also have Krafth, Lascelles, Osula and someone else I've probably forgotten about.

Probably due to lowered expectations, but I would be very happy with the window if we get in Wissa, Samu/Jackson and a quality creative CM. Very important that we get a quality CM though and not just a backup. GK Pope Ramsdale RB Tino Trippier RCB Schär Thiaw LCB Burn Botman LB Hall Targett (Burn, Tino) RW Elanga Murphy CM Tonali Bruno Joelinton Miley Willock New Quality CM LW Gordon Barnes FW Wissa Samu/Jackson Other than Targett and Willock, thats very good quality double cover on every position.

Guess you agree with me that the quote from Edwards was bs then? Really don't think they would intentionally put us in the position where we would have to sell in June again. Having it at as backup plan incase Liverpool didn't meet our asking price? Maybe. Nice metaphor. You believe what you will. I dont think for a second that we would spend half of our summer budget on a backup to Isak, especially when the standard of our squad is the way it is. It also seems very likely that Wissa has been on his way to us for some time as the "Wilson replacement", just waiting for Brentford to find theirs first.

Dont think of it as £35m, think of it as Kelly + £15m. And since Kelly came free, just think of it as £15m. Sure we might overpay a little (or a lot) and it's hard to understand why we left it so late. But it is what it is and in our current position he is probably well worth the price.

He ain't a shitty Swede. About time we get some Norwegians in. The good and loyal type of Scandinavians. Won't see anyone of us pull the kind of stunt that Isak has.
-
Thats a bullshit article tbh. I could see them having that stance now after failing to find a replacement, but to claim that it has always been their stance and nothing has changed? No way we were planning to keep Isak if we had gotten Sesko. Just doesn't make any sense spending that kind of money on a backup striker when the rest of our squad need so much upgrading.

You think Chelsea paid him to say they want £80m for him? Why would they say something different to Sky? Sort of get why conspiracies around agents paying him pop up, but clubs paying him to post what their asking price is?

I like this tactic, just reach out to all the clubs enquiering about their realistic asking price. Don't have time to go after one player at the time.
