Yeah, he's very, very good on the ball. Maybe his future lies further forward.

Hard to say, because he's still learning about his positioning as a full back. Nothing wrong with his attitude or confidence though.

He supposedly only started playing LB last season when he came into the Chelsea side. Believe he considers himself a CM. May want to change that thinking, as he really does have all the tools needed for a top tier modern full back.

  2. After these two Livramento performances we should feel confident giving Trippier more rest. Even now this lad could get a game at RB at at least 12/13 teams in the PL. No reason when the likes of Luton, Bournemouth, Sheff Utd etc come to St James we should feel like Trippier has to play.

  3. One of the biggest takeaways for me last night was just how much more/better football we were able to play with Hall at LB.

Obviously BDB is solid as fuck, & likely won't be getting dropped consistently this season, but having a quicker, more technically proficient player in there allows us to switch up. Most games we tend to favour building up down the right.

Did Howe sign Ramsdale for Bournemouth?

Believe he did, but also I believe I read somewhere that he felt he was unprofessional back then. Bad timekeeping in terms of showing up for training, team bus etc.

Ben White doesn't watch any football because he actually doesn't like football. Same with Carlos Tevez. Crazy.

Isn't there a story that Ben White didn't know who Patrick Viera was as he never really watched football growing up?

  6. Rating a transfer window out of 10 is pretty weird behaviour in general, lads. Like, really, what would be the exact difference between a 7 and an 8. It's been a good window. About what I thought it would be after we qualified for the CL. Better than I thought it would be after the 'only 80-100m' stuff was flying.

Barnes will score goals. I’m certain. It’s Gordon’s quality I still don’t trust fully. I really want him to play RW as he has the potential to offer what Almiron does off the ball (he doesn’t atm) but is a better technician.

Once Barnes was confirmed I was convinced that Gordon would be starting on the right, especially after we pulled out of our slump last season by switching to having a right footed player (Murphy) on the right. Still may be the long term plan, was just sure it's how we'd start the season.

  8. They really wouldn't, and don't really care until the deal is done and they have a new co-worker.

Hasn't it always been implied that Rob's contact is someone pretty low on the totem pole in the scouting or data analysis department?

  9. Whilst our stealth has improved, our speed still needs to catch up. Now this appears to be happening I imagine it doesn't get to the confirmation/signed point till around the middle of next week.

If we sign Hall he’s going to need a senior LB at the club to help him through, he’s barely played there.

Think Trippier's role as full back Dad will be fine. Same sort of role, just one is right footed and one is left.

Also, fully expect Dan Burn to continue to start consistently at least up to the Xmas period. Feel like the number of games round then is where Hall will get his chance to break in and (ideally) make the spot his own.

  11. I would like to see if any of the folks slating him (or any 'greedy' player) for seeing his contract out would actually turn down just over 3.5m per year (before tax) on principle/pride. Which is what they're asking Fraser to do.

Conspiracy theory: wonder if the Saudi league taking all of Chelsea’s deadwood and bailing them out ffp wise might have earned us a bit of favour with Chelsea and they might be willing to do some business with us now?

Don’t think we’ve done business with any of the ‘big 6’ so far despite being linked with many of their players.

The Chelsea lot have always had a warmer relationship with us than the rest of the league, as well as the Saudi link I believe Staveley and Ghoddoussi have a friendship with Boehly that pre-dates either of them being involved with their respective clubs. Believe Chelsea have always been open to negotiate, it's just been they overvalue our targets.

More than doubled his wage moving to us I believe, probably not just playing time as a factor. So not quite so easy to move on I guess.

Yeah, I believe Targett is actually on more money than Dan Burn.

  14. I also think they may now be betting on the rules being relaxed by UEFA and PL given how Saudi Arabia are taking a lot of top talent out of Europe. Wiil take time, but another few Summers like the past one and it will be harder and harder for the PL and CL to sell themselves as the competitions where all the best players in the world play.

So I think it's inevitable we're getting an upgrade, just where and how are the questions.

I actually think that (as well as a 10k-15k capacity extension) there will also be a complete refurbishment of the interior. I know it's all been given a lick of paint recently, but I'm talking about new flooring and wall panelling going down over the concrete/brick that's there currently. New TVs, new kiosks etc.
