Now Schar is committed to another season I don't see us signing a CB this Summer when we have so many other needs to to fill. Though I guess that could change if a long term target becomes available.
-
What an icon he is. Please god make it to that first game of the season. He needs to be properly celebrated at SJP.

Watched the first couple episodes the other night. It's an odd watch, feels like everyone in the cast was told it was a comedy except for Joseph Finnes and Jodie Whittaker (meow). Finnes has Southgate down to a degree where it's almost weird. It's alright though, not bad to chuck on if you've got nothing to watch.

If we are going to keep consistent to the themes of this forum we surely need Jennifer Aniston in the shirt.

So next season our best kit (comfortably) is one the lads are never going to actually wear in a game?
-
This. It can be easy to see just how much the floor has been raised when you have people calling this season the worst they've seen. Less so in here, but see plenty of that in the dredges of X. Pardew's flukey 5th aside, this was still a better PL season than anything under Ashley.

Kieran Trippier: to join Wolves on a free (various)

Christ, that's a hell of a signing for them. Genuinely thought he was going to head to a good Serie A club. -
The lads agent has clearly been on the phone. Trying to drum up Man U interest.

I'll wait to judge till we've played a few games in it. Tend to think a shirt is always ultimately judged positively or negatively based on how good/shit we are in the season we wear it.
-
Look, I think Paul Merson is a big of a joke as anyone else does, but I'd say it's pretty fair for someone to have changed their mind over the course of 4 years.
-
I think we've seen at most clubs, whilst the manager firing/hiring should be under the authority of the Sporting Director, it often ends up being a call made above their head. For better or worse. If the Saudi's want to sack Howe, he will be gone.
-
This sort of proves my point, I know we're shit, but look at that run of events that would need to happen.. And this is assuming we're shit enough not to pick up another point this season. One draw and we're out the picture.
-
Said it earlier, will say it again. We will stay up, even if we don't win another game. It's just numbers. There's only one relegation spot left. For us to go down it would require Spurs, West Ham, Forest, and Leeds all to get to 42, without us picking up another point. Those things happening together are incredibly unlikely. It's doesn't matter who's form is better than ours, Spurs and West Ham would need to find top 5 form at the same time for both to get out of trouble. Yes, we are currently shit, but we have points on the board. In this scenario that's more important than form.
-
I get why people are worried given our form, and I think there's a very real chance we finish 17th, but all this chat, both in here and on Twitter, totally misses that for us to go down Spurs AND West Ham need to hit 42 points. At the moment Spurs form suggests that's very unlikely, and West Hams fixtures makes them doing it very unlikely. This is the main reason why most bookies aren't even giving odds on us going down. It would take a freak run of results from 2 different teams.

And I've always actually found what I will always call the UEFA Cup a sexier trophy than the European Cup.
-
I'm also in the Howe In camp. Ultimately think he is as good anyone for the rebuild. That being said, this view has been shaken after these last 2 results, gone from 100% Howe in to around 60%. IF they decide to make a move I'm pretty convinced it will either be Brighton style and some young manager from the continent the majority haven't heard of, or Iraola. He's surely the standout candidate of managers already in the league.
-
Yeah, this doesn't read as that. More like the club is now tidying up comments he made.
-
Right now they have more chance of being involved than us. Their fans could be looking at that game thinking the exact same thing.
-
This the same Fulham who are also in the thick of the European football hunt as well?

Surely you mean 3, as Longstaff will also inevitably score. -

Whenever I start feeling worried/sick about this, I make myself feel better by looking at the longer term/bigger picture. Sure, at this precise moment in time they're having a purple patch. Could even turn out to be a purple season. But ultimately we're still on an entirely different journey to the one they're on. Our CEO can come out and say things like "we are aiming to be one of the best clubs in the world by 2030" and (because of the resources of our majority owners) people have to take it seriously. Their best case scenario is likely being Nottingham Forest. Just about established as a PL team. Sometimes having a good decent season. Sometimes battling relegation. But we're not the same anymore. -

The Leeds 0-0 is the real stinker to beat this season. -
I've actually written Wissa off for the first half of the season. If he still is only good for a few minutes off the bench by December 14th may as well have him go to AFCON and use it as a pre-season and, all being well, come back ready to go for the second half of the season.
