  1. That we're listening to offers for either/both does make it seem like Trippier is staying in Jan. No way Krafth and Trippier goes. Leaves us with one RB till the end of the season.

  2. My hype levels for Gibbs-White are way higher than they were for Gordon this time last year. Obvs Gordon has more than proven himself. Think Gibbs-White would be class. Technically sound, creative, but with a bit of bite about him.

  3. We are compliant with FFP for the period. Imagine any outgoing business with facilitate incomings. Whether that wad has been blown on the City lad or not who knows.

It won’t be the same because we still have a substantial amount of his fee that needs to be wiped out. But aye it will help massively.

Was trying to work this out myself as well. Around 44m wasn't it after add ons? WIll have been here 2 and half years by the Summer. Maybe around 20m left?

  5. As much as it will hurt, selling Bruno will hurt, I imagine it will facilitate a pretty substantial rebuild. When other sides have brought in 100m for a player (West Ham, Villa etc) they have then reinvested that same money. We have owners who will also be adding the absolute maximum they're allowed to on top of that 100m to the transfer/wage budget.

  6. Gibbs-White link is interesting in the same way the Maddison interest was interesting in the Summer. Seems to hint at something of a evolution of style. I'm sure he could do a job out wide, but as others have mentioned, he has spend most of his career playing through the middle. Not as an outright 10, but certainly an 8/10 hybrid.

Can someone remind me how Sesko's appearance in Newcastle with his agent was explained away? Can't remember if it was summer or last January.

Was Jan, and pretty sure his agent met with a bunch of clubs. Us included. Think that was given as the explanation at the time.

  8. Think Eales interview last week was taken as (and maybe even meant as) a signal that we're open for business. Just hope we don't get shafted on a fee again the way we were with ASM. Almiron's goal output last season should mean we can argue 30m is a totally fair value for him. Not sure if Al-Shebab are one of the PIF teams.

I'm on board with moving him on - but who will play in his position? Unless we fancy Gordon RW and Barnes LW I guess

I think these two playing in the wide roles was Howes intention this season anyway. With them swapping sides throughout games. Think our plan before the crazy injuries was to have a very fluid front 3 of Gordon, Isak, and Barnes.

  10. I honestly don't think we will see a replacement till the Summer. By all accounts Murphy is back in training and may even make the Villa game, and Barnes is only 2-3 weeks away. Think the money goes towards a CM in this window.

    Why is it a stick?

Think it's pretty clear that there are some in here (not necessarily yourself) who like to portray Howe as someone who turns his nose up at foreign signings, and had nothing to do with the Bruno, Botman, Isak deals.

Can't wait for this window to be over, this place is super touchy at the moment.

  12. I feel like Howe gets beaten with the 'British' stick more than he should. I think he places a premium on league experience. As most managers tend to. I think if he went to manage a side in Spain or Italy he would want a strong core of players with experience in those leagues as well.

I’m hearing Kimmich and de Ligt were offered in exchange which makes me think, if we have rejected it, then the owners don’t have a scooby what they’re doing.

Think you're going fishing with that post. Save it for Twitter. 0 chance that's actually true.

  14. I think saying "we're interested in Sesko" is a no lose situation for ITKs. History of previous interest. Will be interested again but sheer volume of teams (probably including some elite clubs) will likely mean it won't be us.

To be frank, if we knew we were sailing so close to FFP spending so much on Tonali was a bit mad

To be fair it was likely done on the assumption we'd be doing no business in Jan anyway. Which we still may not. If we had Tonali and even just one extra player not injured I don't think we'd be looking to do anything.
