That was Mick Martin re the proposed Tiote flag. Which again reflected this weird sense of ‘ownership’ of what others can and can’t do
-
Agreed. For all the flak Wood gets, his PL goal scoring record is perfectly respectable. He’s a half decent back-up CF for a mid table side.
-
I haven’t accused him of impropriety- nor do I think it is likely at all. I agree folks on here should be careful in terms of what they write. I just think he - and some of his pals - are raging attention-seekers, and some of their views are liable to hurt rather than help the support. No issue with them spouting shite on their podcasts nor in Hurst’s bought and paid for fanzine - I just think they’re no different to Wraith, Burnsey or any other ‘professional’ fan.
-
No, Hurst just gives off the air of middle-class Tory grifter, who’s tiresome self-aggrandising bullshit was the genesis for ‘The Pledge’, the intention of which was never anything more than buying him ‘influence’ at the club. A posh school Steve Wraith. He’s got zero interest in being an ‘independent’ voice - he’d love nothing more than the club embracing him and asking him for his ideas on running things. Like his proposal that season ticket prices should go up in the poorest region of Britain, just like a good little Tory with zero shits given to the average punter. I admire groups like Wor Flags as they improve the match day experience for others and give their time willingly to do so. TF having four members of the ‘independent’ board of the ST speaks volumes about their characters. Absolutely fucking shameless.

It’s horrific, and they are the scum of the Earth, I’m afraid. MBS and ‘his excellency’ our chairman are all party to this evil. It is why fawning statements from ‘our’ supporters trust were vomit-inducing. There’s fuck all we can do about who owns the club - see also Mike Ashley - and ultimately it’s still ‘our’ club (it still exists within and represents my home town). Doesn’t mean we should sit comfortably with it, of course. There was a sorry tale here in Sydney a few weeks ago re two sisters who’d fled KSA due to their sexuality. I can’t even imagine what it is like to live under a regime like that. Evil fuckers. https://amp.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/aug/04/saudi-sisters-found-dead-in-sydney-told-acquaintance-queer-women-live-in-fear-in-their-homeland

Hope Ten Hag hasn’t learned how to pick a team before we play them. Some fucking bizarre decisions on show here. Doesn’t help that Man Utd has some utter dross like

Brighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Newcastle United (13/08/2022)

Honestly, you’re the first person I’ve ever seen actually point to the table not even two games in for all teams. It is a complete irrelevance. 10 games is the usual benchmark -

It’s all we’ve got because we haven’t bought any wingers, despite that being comfortably our weakest position -

No-one should be panicking, but the position in the table after some teams have played only once is utterly irrelevant -

Happy with the result, poor performance. The toothless attack means that the pressure gets ramped up vs good sides - we desperately need additional quality, not sure if we’ll sign anyone mind, I don’t detect any urgency. Trippier was as bad as I’ve seen him mind - skinned every time. Ah well. I would’ve taken this at 3pm. -
PIF isn’t separate from the KSA state - it was always about piracy. Dodgy deals with Trump, however unpleasant, won’t be enough to cause issues. Besides, the PL claim to have had legal ‘proof’ of separation, so they’d need a solid case to go back on that. The only worry you should have re Trump is that somehow he’s still got a decent chance of winning in 2024 …

We’re 46,980 days unbeaten since our first derby game vs Middlesbrough Ironopolis. And while they were technically dissolved about 46,700 days ago, I think the achievement is no less impressive and definitely shows who are the NE Top Dogs

Has to be said, if the Ronnie Gill was a dog it would’ve been taken round the back of the shed to be euthanised at least 25 years ago. The website is as broken as the paper is redundant

Newcastle United vs. Notts Forest: 06/08/2022 @ 3pm (No UK TV)
TheBrownBottle replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
There’s plenty of us who don’t think the politics are ancient - the NE has never recovered from that period. If they can still bleat on about an FA Cup QF defeat in 1974, we can about their betrayal of the miners ten years later -

Having read that forum, I’ve decided to change the habit of a lifetime and call them ‘Notts Forest’ from this day forth. That’ll learn ‘em. -

James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

Tbf salmon-pants Methven is, along with Tony ‘TC’ Coton and Scottish ‘can’t remember his name’ manager, a voice of reason in that part whilst Stewart Donald becomes obsessed with signing Grigg for five times his market value. -

Yeah, he always comes across as a decent gadgie when I’ve heard him on podcasts & radio etc, but what you’ve said tallies with my thinking (though I don’t know him). -
I’d just like to add that I also disliked Jimmy Hill, but not for his conspiracy to relegate Sunderland. Actually, that was a plus in his ledger for me.

You’ll have to forgive me if I think Hope knows about as much as any of us on here. Maddison bid came out of a clear blue sky but now he knows everything about our negotiations and intent re the player. Sorry, not buying it. The NE hacks we’re exposed as being effectively locked out by our new management. Which is a good thing. -

Like everyone else, I’m genuinely looking forward to the season for the first time in yonks Forest home first is an odd one, mind. Could easily see this being 4-0 or 0-1. Wouldn’t be shocked by either outcome. Whatever happens, it’s nice to be able to approach a season without dread, and without the anxiety that an Ashley-owned Newcastle always brought -
Sticking to the Ameobi theme - Sammy Ameobi has played as many games for Newcastle in Europe as Sunderland has played in their entire history (4) I’m willing to bet even Sammy doesn’t remember those appearances, given how few they were.

You keep thinking Hope’s correct, despite the fact he clearly knew fuck all about it. John Percy knows Forest, Derby and Leicester inside out - if he says we bid £40m, then we bid £40m. Hope and the rest of the NE lot are trying to claw back on the fact that they’ve been exposed as knowing sweet FA. Which is great, as it means the club has plugged the leaks, and we can safely ignore the shite that they write for clicks. -

Leicester are direct competition with us this season, you’d think - we’re in that group of teams who’ll likely finish somewhere between 7th-12th. The fact we’re bidding on one of their best players is fucking great in my books.
