I haven’t thought this through much, but. for the league cup, the last team to get knocked out from outside the prem, gets auto promotion to the prem at the end of the season. obviously would have to reduce the number of teams promoted from the championship. but it might make it more exciting if league 2 teams have a shot of getting into the prem. Someone would have to work out the logistics, like what if every non prem side got knocked out in the same round.

I’m still give howe a chance to rebuild in the summer. But I’m an old softy. But I have seen very worrying repeated mistakes and stubborn decisions that have got me questioning him. The no plan b comments had me baffled. I’m more concerned the team seem to have switched off him and can he come back from that. He’s been let down by several players. Badly. the remaining games I need to see something different from him. If we go to arsenal and try to go toe to toe, then concede one, fall apart and lose by a massive margin, followed by usual subs. I don’t know how I will feel. i want to see tactics designed not to get battered. If it means parking the bus from minute 1 and getting a 0-0 that’s a massive win for me. Didn’t the government have something in their manifesto about introducing some independent government post to regulate football and the PL. I know they have bigger fish to fry, but there is a dedicated sport and culture MP and department who isn’t being distracted by wars, nhs and economic oblivion.

I think deep down we all knew when he gave those post match comments about his future a while ago, that he wasn’t staying long term. at the time I optimistically put it down to him being shattered after 90 mins of football. but all this smoke and in hindsight does sugguest he’s probably waiting for the right offer to come in and that has been the game plan from day 1. thats not his fault, he’s a footballer with a short shelf life and for all we know he’s spunked his life earnings pre gambling ban up the wall. its football, if he goes I wish him well, as long as he handles it respectfully, unlike isak. i hope he stays, but he needs to up his game next season. Like the whole team, not been consistently good enough this year As a fanbase we probably need to toughen up. The last 10 years have seen us have such average players no one else ever took them off us. Now we have some that are half decent it hurts to lose them. But going forward we/howe/board need to be ruthless if we want to progress. we just can’t fuck up the replacement or the next window again. no one’s bigger than the club.
