  1. But if PSG beat them, Dortmund would drop to 2nd in the group and face tougher opposition in the next round. They would play a team who has won their group. I don't think they will play a weakened side and they won't want to lose.
  2. We know Paris SG have to win away at Dortmund if we beat Milan at home Dortmund have only lost 1 home game in all competitions since 20 August 2022 ... over 15 months ... and that was Beyen Munich Bet365 odds - Dortmund or draw 5/6 - PSG win 10/11 - 52% to 48% for our favoured result. PSG have only won 4 out of 8 away matches this season (all competitions). In the Champions League they've lost both of their away matches - lost 4-1 to us and lost 2-1 to Milan. We've still got a good chance if we sink Milan !
  3. Agreed ... we had plenty of good chances to at least draw. xG from today’s game … Newcastle 1.37 Arsenal 1.29
  4. Oh ... and before I leave this thread ... I'm an immigrant into the UK from Ireland.
  5. I didn't say ALL the immigrants want to come to the UK. That would be nonsense. For the numbers you refer to ... see my post above yours. Anyhow, I've had enough of this topic now so I'm moving on. Bye.
  6. From World Population Review - Statistics Section Worldwide top 10 countries with the highest number of Refugees/Immigrants - Source : United Nations 1st United States — 50.6 million 2nd Germany — 15.8 million 3rd Saudi Arabia — 13.5 million 4th Russia — 11.6 million 5th United Kingdom — 9.4 million 6th United Arab Emirates — 8.7 million 7th France — 8.5 million 8th Canada — 8.0 million 9th Australia — 7.7 million 10th Spain — 6.8 million
  7. Thanks for your guidance fella .. but I am extremely "well read".
  8. Nothing epitomises capitalism more than the world ( the industry ) of football ! It is capitalist to it's very core.
  9. Of course genuine asylum seekers should always be given the oppotunity to apply for asylum, but they are not to be conflated with the priority given to economic migrants. I'm sure you would agree. It's not surprising that people from all over the world want to come and live in the UK. We are the most generous and tolerant country in the world with a high standard of living compared to a lot of other countries. We should be proud of that.
  10. You say that as if it's a bad thing, some sort of slur ? He's allowed to have any politic view he wants. After all, you're defending Lineker to have his own choice aren't you ?
  11. The analysis (if you can call it that) from the MOTD pundits is pretty worthless. They try their best to add some value to the game you've just watched, but it's all fluff and trivia. Lineker adds absolutely nothing to the experience ... he's purely a link man asking scripted questions. R.I.P. Match Of The Day. Can't say I will miss you.
  12. Those 28% figures are from the BBC. The offical figures, as recorded by the Home Office, can be found here --> https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/factsheet-small-boat-crossings-since-july-2022/factsheet-small-boat-crossings-since-july-2022 For what it's worth, Albanians make up 42% of current asylum seekers.
  13. It's not their most popular BBC show, not by a long way. It only pulls in an average of 2.5 million viewers per week and the numbers are falling due to the competition from Sky, BT, Amazon and a further raft of 6 or 7 interested broadcasters coming into play. Despite the low viewing figures it still costs the BBC over £70 million per year in fees to the Premier League, just for highlights. The cost to viewer ratio is a very poor return for the BBC and I'm sure that is being closely monitored and considered in the current fracture caused by Lineker. The BBC have bought the rights until the 2024 season and the rights beyond this date are soon to be auctioned. I can't see the BBC being very interested in an even more expensive renewal now. I think Lineker has just signed the death warrant of MOTD and, as a football fan, that seriously wouldn't bother me.
  14. There's a world of difference between Asylum Seekers and Economic Migrants, yet many want to lump them is the same definition. Can't fault either gourp for wanting to live in the UK with us, but let's not kid ourselves that they are all fleeing war zones ... they clearly aren't.
  15. It's given the Tory's policy (like it or not) a huge public profile. More than they could have managed on their own. And it's placed Lineker as the figure-head of it's opposition, which could be to their benefit ... he isn't universally liked, not by a long way.
  16. ... and the stakes are getting higher and higher all the time Soon there will be little opportunity for either party to back down without loss of face/status. It feels like the Top Gear = Clarkson + Hammond + May episode all over again.
  17. Lineker would be in breach of contract if he refused to work under the conditions of his employment, so wouldn't be able to take the BBC to court for anything. The BBC have already fulfilled their Premier League responsibilities. They paid for the package of this seasons highlights up front. Having trousered the money, the Premier League couldn't care less if the BBC broadcast it or not. This is defo a possible outcome.
  18. Lineker has set himself up against BBC Management to see who has the biggest clout. Someone's got to lose face (and their job?). If I was BBC Management I'd cancel MOTD indefinitely, sack anyone who refused to fulfill their employment contract and save huge wages on Lineker, Shearer, Production, Commentators etc. Due to the mandatory license fee, the loss of viewing figures has no impact on income. Job done !
  19. The result was no worse than our top 4 rivals. None of them have taken a point off Man City at the Etihad.
  20. I'm talking like-for-like fixtures. This fixture is MAN CITY v NUFC. To get a better indication of where we are against our top 4 rivals, I like to take the current fixture NUFC are facing (Man City v NUFC) and see what our rivals did in the same fixture. To me, that's a much better indicator where we stand than anything else.
  21. This fixture for our top 4 rivals ... Man City 6 - Man Utd 3 Man City 4 - Spurs 2 Man City - Liverpool (1st Apr) Man City 3 - Brighton 1 Man City - Chelsea (20th May)
  22. But is it too early for us to finish 4th and be playing Champions League ? Perhaps finishing 5th/6th would be a better position for our stage of development ?
  23. I'm not sure how the fan base will make their position untenable. Chanting Glazier's Out is going to have fuck-all impact. They are probably laughing about it as they trouser all the money. Best of luck if you think you can force them out. Personally, I don't think you've got a hope in hell of making it happen.
  24. I have a friend who went to school & college with Ten Hag. Their career paths diverged but she still kept close contact with him. She and his closest group of friends tried to talk him out of taking the ManU job, citing the Glaziers and the intrusion of the UK press as issues. He fiercley guards his private life.
  25. I might be wrong, but I doubt the Glaziers ever intended to sell. If the fan base believes there's some small hope of the Glaziers moving out, their mood will lift. Ashley strung us along with this trick for a long time.
