Guehi is 24 years old and is a top 4 defender. If we want to consistently challenge for the top 4, we should sign him. He's available, refused to sign a new contract, and has 2 years left. Next year, he'll be unattainable because clubs like Liverpool will be after him.
-
Yeah, that's fair, but he wasn't even a regular starter back then. He only started eight games in the Bundesliga that season. Upamecano and Orban were ahead of him. So, Liverpool was basically betting on his potential since their main defenders at the time were Van Dijk and Matip when they were fit. Konate is always injured, so Guehi starts there, even at Man U or Chelsea. The fee is about right considering he's a top 4/6 player.
-
Guehi is 24 now, VVD was 24 when he left Celtic for Southampton. Guehi is a top player, a top 4 player. He should start in all Premier League backlines except maybe Arsenal and City. If we want to be in the top four consistently, we need players like him. Sixty million is a fair price for a top-four player.
-
Yeah, I agree. Every Newcastle supporter knows we need more speed and agility at center back. Guehi has that. So it's hard to understand why someone would talk about passing and not mention the obvious need for PACE in our back line. Guehi is one of the best central defenders in the league, imagine how good he'll be after Howe has trained him. That's why I think he's just trolling. He's not really saying anything that makes sense, even with all those stats he's throwing out there. Guehi would be a great signing if we can get it done. Let's make the conversation focus on Guehi and not TCD, he likes playing the devil's advocate.
-
I guess the Stats prove this 🤷 This coming from the guy who pulled up VVD stats to prove his point. Yeah WUM.
-
The statistics indicate that it is not feasible. 😃

I am certain that if you are able to perceive the immediate concern, the club is also capable of doing so. Mr. Howe is well compensated and is an exceptional manager. I am confident that he is fully aware of his actions. If you were to watch the documentary series titled "We Are Newcastle," you would discover that the club had anticipated Anthony Gordon's potential to become one of the most accomplished players in the Premier League. I am curious to know what your statistics indicated about him at that time. Once again, we have a world-class management team that successfully transformed a team that was languishing at the bottom of the league into a team that reached a final and qualified for the Champions League within a single season. I have complete trust in their judgment, and I believe you should as well.
-
Do you not believe that the club examines these statistics and then actually dispatches individuals to observe him in person? If we were to acquire players solely on the basis of statistics, there would be no requirement for scouts. In my opinion, this is where your arguments fall short. I am certain that you are aware of this but are unwilling to acknowledge it.
-
We were also unable to play attractive attacking football due to Philips' injury.
-
Surely this signing is a no brainer. I'm sure TCD is trolling.
-
I understand that we are not acquiring Guehi solely for this season. We are constructing a formidable back four for the upcoming years. Guehi's strengths lie in his pace and agility, which are precisely the attributes we currently lack. In terms of heading ability, his potential partner, The Batman, possesses both heading prowess and strength. I am certain that a partnership between them would be formidable.
-
I highly doubt that to be honest. Mate, you're comparing him to arguably the best defender in the premier league's history. The only shocking thing is how you don't realize how shocking that is. If his statistics "mirrored" VVD he would be out of our league
-
In my humble opinion, it would be more beneficial to compare Guehi's data and statistics to our current players, such as Schar, Burn, Batman Krafth, and others, rather than the player he plays with, in order to gain a more accurate perspective and assessment. Then, we should look at our defensive unit's strengths and weaknesses and see what he adds to that. For example, an eye test will show us that we have plenty of physicality but lack pace. So a Burn or Botman, Guehi partnership has pace, physicality, and heading ability. We should focus on what he brings, not what he lacks. Because in my opinion, we have plenty of the weaknesses he has, but he brings something we don't have at all. Which is PACE.

I don't mind the PSR and all that stuff. It's kept football from going mad these past few years. Teams have to be smart with who they sign and who they scout. We fans overthink this PSR thing. Let's leave it to the pros and just enjoy the transfer business. We've got a world-class management team. Let's trust them and the process. I mean, we used to have Joe Kinnear and Derek Llambias running the show. Surely we're miles ahead of where we were. The only doom and gloom is the stuff we make up in our heads. Trust the process.
-
He sure knows how to ruin our transfer news, doesn't he?
-
Mostly concentrating on spreadsheets, peak value and not selling Minteh. SpreadsheetWarriors PSR and MintehLoyal.
-
Hey, wait until he beats three Man City defenders and scores a goal in the top corner. I'm sure most people have a general idea of what PSR and the club's accounts are with this in mind, I then find it interesting that people can keep going over the same theories day after day. As we are all aware, this outcome was inevitable. That is the crux of my argument. In any case, I will now discreetly withdraw from the conversation.
-
It continues to rumble on without my involvement my good sir, and it will do so for a very long time. However, I find it intriguing that the individuals who assert their knowledge of PSR and the club's financial situation are the same ones who complain about the sale of Minteh. Surely, if you are well-informed about the club's finances, you would not persistently complain about the sale of Minteh. It is understandable to express disappointment initially, but after that, becausenof your "indepth" understanding of the rules it is important to accept the situation and move on. The club is obviously hurt by losing Miniteh, and so are many but we've accepted that it was necessary and moved on. They even folded in the Ashworth saga, if the rumors are true. But hey, they got Mitchellin a few days later. They've moved on, man. This is the aspect that I find most perplexing, Some people just can't let go and keep whining about stuff we can't do anything about now.
-
I understand. However, I would like to know where you derived the statement, "You seem to consistently want others to provide all the evidence to the point that I can't tell if you're trolling." That is the reason for my post. If you follow the conversation from when I asked TCD a question, which was replied by someone else quoting your analysis and calculations, I said that the calculation can't be taken as a fact, as you also clearly point out that it is an estimated guess. Given the current atmosphere of hostility and arrogance, engaging in a discussion where we can both question and debate would be a waste of my time and everyone involved. Instead, it would be more prudent to allow events to unfold and then discuss them based on facts rather than hypotheticals. I am open to engaging in a respectful and productive conversation with someone who is willing to ask questions and be questioned in return. So saying something like "want others to provide all the evidence" when you acknowledge that there is a bit of guess work in you calculations defeats this would you not agree?
-
Put it this way, Carroll was sold for 35 million. I wouldn't have accepted that bid for Carroll, but the club did. I was sad, but I still said it was fantastic business. I must admit that if there was no PSR I would not have personally accepted a bid of 33 million for Miniteh, however, if the club chose to accept such an offer, I would still acknowledge it as a remarkable piece of business. 33 million for Miniteh in my opinion is fantastic business.

Excuse me, I believe you may have misunderstood my posts. When someone makes a statement with absolute certainty, such as claiming that the club was mismanaged, isn't it reasonable for me to request an alternative perspective? I understand that this is a blog and we have the freedom to express our opinions, but in a constructive discussion, it seems appropriate to provide more than just a general statement like "it was mismanaged." Would you not agree?
-
I ask questions to understand how you arrived at your conclusion or reasoning. The figures and statistics are easily accessible to anyone interested, but I am more interested in how they are interpreted. No one outside the club can accurately determine our financial flexibility from the figures, since most were unaware of the exact amount required for compliance. Therefore, I ask to better understand your interpretation. Instead of engaging in a meaningful and respectful discussion, you resort to insults.
-
No, however, I do see some significant gaps in the calculations provided, with emphasis on SIGNIFICANT. I will refrain from elaborating on this matter due to the apparent arrogance displayed by you and others in your arguments. I believe time will reveal the this, and I will revisit this topic in the near future. For now, I will remain silent regarding this.
