Media trying to stir bad blood with Owen/Keegan already?

I see no irony. Martins has been fit the majority of his career at NUFC and has scored some rather important goals, especially last season.

Maybe i need to redefine what irony means?

Ironic following his comments about the amount of goals Owen should score for the amount he is costing.

Martins doesn't justify his transfer fee or wages either.

See, irony.

£10m striker all day long when you see what sells for around the same price.

Do you know how much he's on? I guess about a 1/3 or Owen at the most.

We'd also get that fee back no problem.

I still don't see the irony.

Every single player starts a new page today.  Even Stephen Carr looked a player last night (albeit against stoke).  Whatever preconceptions we have with any of the players (and yes we've watched most of them for 2 or 3 years) - some of them looked like completely different players last night, just imagine what Zoggy can do with an all out attack licence given to him by Keegan.  Rozehnal even did an "albert" impression last night striding out of defence with the ball looking for duff on the wing.

With a different attitude, impetus and belief, most of the players we've thought were out of their depth/uninterested could start performing week in week out.  We might not end up in the top 6 this season but you can guarentee they'll be trying to win games by passing the ball to feet instead of shaking their heads because Viduka isn't 8 foot tall.

The interplay between N'Zogbia, Duff and Milner last night was a joy to watch (albeit against stoke). More please Kevin.

I give up with you tbh. Arguing for the sake of it, like you do in all threads.

If Owen starts scoring the amount of goals a £100,000 a week striker should be then fair enough but i don't think he ever will and their are better options out there.

Ironic that you have Martins in your avatar tbh

How's it ironic? Martins has been scoring goals while playing in a team that does nothing to help him play to his strengths, he doesn't get paid nearly as much as Owen and has brought some excitement when the chips were down.

You will find that Martins is in for a big wake-up call from KK - he will either shape up or ship out - my money is on the latter, and if KK DOES go for Defoe, it shows he has already made his mind up - Defoe is a similar type of striker to Martins, but slightly better in my opinion.

if you put the ball in front of Owen 9 times out of 10 it will be in the back of the net, i hope he can stay fit and get a run of games with match practice im sure he will score goals for us, now im not saying i like him or that he likes us or even deserves to get the money he does but he has a proven pedigree of scoring goals and other then Martins having pace he daint really have much else coz his finishing is terrible at time.  Lets give him a chance (another i know)
