James
Southampton would make an excellent starting club for Shearer. If he is serious about being a manager, he would be a fool to not apply.

James
Because he played for them? They are essentially a Premiership club fallen on hard times, making them good enough for him, and his wife is from Southampton, so such a move wouldn't be uprooting his family as much as a move anywhere else. This is a good opportunity.
Yorkie
Because he played for them? Erm, no. Because they're a reasonably big club, with good players, lots of potential and decent finances. And they're essentially still a Premiership club. AND he has an affiliation with them. Like James said, they're on hard times at the moment and it'd be an achievement to get them back into the Prem to see what they could do.
indi
You are talking bollocks as usual. Clearly you don't like Shearer, bit like Rennie, and have a chip on your shoulder about him. Everybody recognizes that he has no experience. But when you've had the number of experienced managers we've had who have done fuck all, who knows what Shearer could do? Perhaps he would fall flat on his face or he may be just what we need along the lines of Keegan. Who knows? Clearly, experience is no guarrantee any kind of success at Newcastle. People like you would just want him to fail. Nice try.
