littlelunchbox
can the person started this thread change the title to Danny 'longball' Simpson, please. his passing attributes consist of only hitting it longball and crossing it longball. JH
John Barnes making a very good point about him on ESPN Whats he saying? He pulled out of the challenge in the buildup to the goal because he was already on a yellow card. A yellow card that he didn't even deserve.
Mick
Where is Mick defending him again..... I'll defend him when I think he isn't as bad as people make out, he was poor today, partially down to his booking which wasn't a booking.

littlelunchbox
i got to be honest, as a defender he's actually not bad , that is when it comes to purely defending. positioning heading marking tackling, he's does well, where he fall short is his distribution of the ball. it always smashing it long. he thinks he can put the ball on a six pence no matter where he is on the pitch, that has never happened danny boy son you are not david beckham
ponsaelius
Apart from a CB where we're horribly thin on the ground the thing we need most is another proper fullback. It worries me when Pardew talks up Simpson and our other fullback options.

Yorkie
BUT HE WON THE BALL. So did Tiote at Stevenage, which was a red card all day.

Guest VaVaVoom
Absolutely shite today and has been for quite some time. He annoys more far more than Obertan does. The sooner we bring in a quality LB and shift Santon to RB the better it is for the team.

The sooner we bring in a quality LB and shift Santon to RB the better it is for the team. Obertan's shite performances weren't helped by having no support from Simpson on the right wing. Worst crosser of a football I've seen.
Yorkie
BUT HE WON THE BALL. So did Tiote at Stevenage, which was a red card all day. Nice link to a completely irrelevant challenge. But in all seriousness, if you go in like that you're susceptible to being penalised by the ref. It can still be classed as dangerous play even if he's won the ball. It was the typical "lose the ball, desperately lunge in with both feet". You'll get booked all day long with that shit and i can't say i disagree. Players get severe injuries from shit like that and it needs to be cut out of the game. Simpson's wasn't as bad as a lot of cases, which is why he saw yellow instead of red. Mick
So did Tiote at Stevenage, which was a red card all day. They were two totally different tackles, Simpson went round the player, Tiote went in two footed if I remember right.

Hence yellow and not red. That's how i saw it anyway.
Guest VaVaVoom
Fwiw Simpson shouldnt of been booked. It was a great tackle imo.
JH
http://i44.tinypic.com/9pntog.jpg Should be banned for life for going in from the side and cleanly taking the ball.
