How did this rocketing players wages lark start ffs??

Silvio Berlusconi.

Georeg Eastham - once players could ask for a transfer and get it and not be "kept in slavery" then the way was open for tapping up, agents and God knows what

I was thinking about this. How many clubs are in bother. Obviously Manchester United and the whole Glazer debarcle, Liverpool despite Gillett selling the Montreal Canadiens and Hicks selling the Texas Rangers as none of the money is heading towards Anfield at this moment in time, West Ham, with the porno men looking as if they had saved them but in all reality they need help to raise the funds to buy the other half of the club, Portsmouth, who are dead and buried imo. Hull have all their players up for sale, Boro have allegedly got an £80 million debt, Cardiff are having problems paying the Taxman, Palace are in administration. Any others?

I reckon we will see a lot of clubs being deducted points, and although I loath to say it, Mike Ashley has done us a favour by taking the debt emassed by Shepherd and Hall and making it payable to himself rather than outside institutions. Still hate the bloke tho, but if we are paying sensible salaries and paying for transfers up front we could be one of the clubs who manages to make it through the bubble bursting.
