Why would he need to sack the manager to sell the club?

So that they can put their own man in, Bit like what MA did to Big Sam.

Oh if only.... no such luck ... how come Man City got all the luck and we get ....... the barrow boy.

Tbf, They're hardly setting the world alight.

Hughton was close to the players and had a bond, Pardew isn't and therefore will have no qualms with shifting on the big earners in January. With a much smaller wage budget NUFC becomes a more saleable asset.

Of course we'll have no decent players, a threadbare squad and be at least one division down come the time of the sale.. but that's how Mike Ashley operates. Stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap.

to be fair of the big earners theres only really enrique we'd be able to sell as i'd doubt the rest would be willing to take the pay cuts and only enrique may be offered what he's on here. smith, nolan and barton certainly wouldn't and i'd doubt colo would.

Such an opportunity for a FYP.

A rumour on Spurs forums is that Hughton wanted a 3 year contract of £1.5/2m pa.    Ashley reckoned that would make him too expensive to sack sometime in the future so better to get rid and bring in a cheaper option now.

The originator is a known mate of Paul Kemsley and Mike Ashley so there probably is some truth in it.  Still doesn't make Ashley's decision to sack Hughton right.
