Willow
I've seen a lot of clubs rejecting transfer requests of late, if we'd rejected Carrolls then I wonder what would've happened. Surely he must've really kicked up a fuss about wanting to leave if we didn't even reject his request? Ah I don't know, just didn't expect this from Carroll that's all... David28
Man Utd rejected Rooney's. And look how poor he's been since that.
jdckelly
there is no point keeping a player who wants to leave, a club like man u with their rep and intimidating manager and man city where they can buy allegiance can get away with it but the likes of us? James
When Miner left, it was well documented that he had done so to forgo a large loyalty bonus that we'd have had to pay him. We pay our players millions of pounds in loyalty bonuses every year, and it was one of the hidden costs Ashley was stung by when buying the club without properly doing due dilligence. It would appear that where it has been mutually agreed that a player will be sold, we have insisted that they hand in a transfer request to forgo this payment.
