NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

I imagine this is being pushed now as his resale value will be shrinking due to his age. But if we sign a younger player like Stambouli or Grenier as a replacement he won't be a big loss.

Yeah he's been here four seasons now and the big move all parties were hoping for eventually didn't come. With the club's desire to sell for profit and  it being Tiote's last chance to get a significant move it's not really surprising.

Can someone tweet him and ask him if we are bringing in more players regardless?

I can't be the only person who isn't thrilled with the gaping holes in the first team.

Jesus, the penny hasn't dropped for you? I mean we have signed NINE players. Finally some ambition. We're going places.

Unbelievable

Worth noting that back when we got Tiote the rumour at Twente was they had agreed a decent sell on percentage. If true, the fee we may receive might not be what the club gets for him.

@GraemeBailey are they planning to bring in anymore players if he leaves?

@davidmilburn Yes.

Hayden Mullins to take his place.

Will be really pissed off if Tiote goes. Think he would do well at Arsenal, they always struggle in games against the other top teams, exactly the kind of game he often excels in.

Why on earth would Arsenal want Tiote? Arteta in a blindfold would be just as effective.

They need a better DM than Flamini but Tiote is not the answer, nowhere near tbh.

Bit of a tendency to underrate our players on here imo. When Tiote struggles it when he tries to do too much as the rest of our midfield has a tendency to go AWOL - at Arsenal he would just need to win it and give it, a job he's very good at.

There's no place in football for players who merely 'win it and give it'. Especially not in teams with a modicum of ambition.

Yep - he's a much better player than people are making out on here.

I'd be genuinely shocked if Arsenal signed him after the way he played in that 7-3 game. It was like a masterclass in how not to play the midfield role he's supposedly really good at.

Had Arsenal been sniffing around 2 years ago then I'd have understood it. The season we finished 5th I thought he was very, very good but, like Krul and Coloccini, he's regressed and got progressively worse. Can't see how he'd improve Arsenal in any way shape or form, they don't need him and I don't think Wenger's that daft to even go for him in the first place tbh.
