Nicky Posted December 7, 2006 Share Posted December 7, 2006 Just read a small bit in the Sun that reckons we're tracking Stevenage winger George Boyd. I know most of you spit at the word Stevenage, but he is the most exciting talent in non-league football at the moment. There was a fair bit of rumour down here (I live in Stevenage :oops: ) that Spurs were gonna grab him over the summer, but it never happened. Mainly an attacking left-sided midfielder, who with the right coaching could go a fair way in the game. Would cost peanuts by our standards too. Martins scored twice Boyd scored 4 times, that makes him twice as good, Martins was £10 million and so Boyd must be £20 million, plus he's English and a midfielder so double that, £40 million. You should have him in your fantasy football team nit... you sad cunt. he just got 4 goals in the last week baggio. thats 20 pts as he's a midfielder, and another 3 for bonus points, and a clean sheet and appearence fee meaning he's looking at 25 pts plus assists (probably a further 9). his value will be jacked up at the moment. best wait until he has a few bad weeks and his price drops a bit. you're lucky i don't use the report to moderator facility. The 21-year-old, who has scored eight goals for Stevenage this season, will join Peterborough on 8 January. "George is highly rated and has been extremely sought-after," Peterborough director of football Barry Fry told the club's official website. "We're delighted to secure his services. He's an exciting prospect." Boyd has made more than 100 first-team starts for Stevenage, and has been attracting attention from Football League clubs since July 2005. We can't keep denying a youngster his chance of playing in the League Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace, who turned down an offer from the same club before Christmas, said he had little choice but to let Boyd leave once Posh had agreed to pay the asking price. "We promised George that if the right offer came in and he wanted to go we wouldn't stand in his way," he told Stevenage's official website. "Peterborough have made George a fantastic offer which he wants to accept and they've met our valuation so we have to keep our promise, and allow him to move on and test himself against League opposition. "We can't keep denying a youngster his chance of playing in the League or nobody would ever sign for us again."
