Delima
to help, the moneys through the turnstiles and merchandise is becoming increasingly less of the clubs overall turnover and financial base Still, ultimately, whose money is it? Who pay the club all the money? Who buy the clubs' merchandise? Who pay to enter the stadium? Who watch the advertisements? Unless Shepherd's Newcastle United generate their vast majority of the revenue by say, earning prize money from football competition, by property development etc, when the club can survive without placating the fans, without fans' finanacial support ... Mick
Shepherd had done very little good for this club, I'll give him the stadium extension that Sir John planned and I'll give him the training facilities, the rest of his handy work is negative. The day he leaves will be a good day for the club, he can go back to his place of birth (which isn't Newcastle) and worry the local sheep population. NE5
I really don't get why everyone's so excited about a takeover yes we get rid of Fat Fred who does seem inept at best but what do we get in return? We simply don't know, we could end up with someone like Glazier who purchased Man U through leverage backed against the club, saddling us with further debts and not actually digging in his own pockets. why should we expect them to dig into their own pockets, don't see david dein doing much of that or martin edwards before selling out. truth is some fools on here just want fat fred out regardless of who or what comes in.....i've no problem with him being ousted but i want to know what any takeover leaves us with. i struggle to understand the reasoning of the anyone but fred campaign..............as i've said before "be careful what you wish for" .i remember people thinking the same about the pirate westwood but look what happened then. No one here expects Shepherd to dig into his own pocket. And Shepherd has never done so. But he keeps bragging about him backing his manager with money. The money is not his, it is ours. Disgusting how Shepherd acts as if he is the saviour and patron of the club. Which premiership club has not backed their managers? Even Doug Ellis backs their manager, when Villa's revenue is not as high as Newcastle United! That post sums up the naivety and obsession of so many people regarding their view of the board of this football club perfectly.

NE5
Shepherd had done very little good for this club, I'll give him the stadium extension that Sir John planned and I'll give him the training facilities, the rest of his handy work is negative. The day he leaves will be a good day for the club, he can go back to his place of birth (which isn't Newcastle) and worry the local sheep population. And the era of Sir John was down to the manager that he didn't pick, but took the advice of Shepherd, Hall Jnr and Fletcher but don;t let the facts get in the way of making things up again PS.... Sir John planned the new stadium at Leazes Park, which was turned down. The extension to SJP was the alternative that they turned to, while Shepherd was chairman. You're wrong again. Guest BooBoo
So The Boy Blunder (NE5) is putting the relative glory days of Keegan down to astute persuasion by Freddie Shepherd to let KK to return as manager. mackems.gif Honestly, you're a totally ridiculous individual. I said Shepherd, Hall Jnr and Fletcher were responsible for appointing Keegan, and Sir John didn't particularly want to appoint him. This is in Keegans book, and the full extract was posted by myself on here previously, unless you know better than Keegan. I think ridiculous individuals are people like you who ignore factual information and make up things as you go, and don't have a mind of your own.
