Based on the 15 seconds of footage I've just seen of Weghorst, I think they've had our pants down.

Neither of them good enough tbh

He just doesn't look hungry to me.

He's a focul point insofar as he's a 'striker', but he won't be a huge help to us in the long term.

He'll rightly get shit for that shite header but he put in good off the ball work today and had some tidy hold up on a couple of occasions.

Kinda wish ASM had squared it at the end for Wood to (hopefully) smash in. He needs some confidence and we need him to have it.

He's getting in the right positions and holding the ball up well, but his confidence looks shot. If he gets a goal he'll look a better player from then on imo. Really want him to make this work.

Didn't look too good but hopefully we'll keep playing in a way where others are chipping in, and I'm sure he'll get himself a few and pick up some confidence. Don't think should be panicking too much, often takes a striker time to get going, it's only been three games (and we've gotten 7 points in them).

Well he's going to get plenty of chances to improve. I have hope he'll get there and I'm still extremely glad he's here, cos continuing without a CF would have meant guaranteed relegation.

Seen it mentioned a few times that Barnes was more of the donkey work, target man/shithouse and Wood played off the shoulder and ran channels.

It would make sense. As for a big lump, he is awful back to goal and whilst the service into him is fairly poor and he is isolated a lot of the time. His headers never go to a black and white shirt.

Looked a touch more threatening tonight. But still on his heels and a bit leggy a lot of the time. He is working hard and helping our defensively when ASM is having a lie down. So at least he is contributing.

I do worry about him getting an actual goal, mind.

He’s basically Joselu. Not Joselu the goal machine he is now but the version we had. I thought he played ok today and worked hard but he’s not much of a threat and we over paid by £10m or so.

Hard worker and gets involved but it feels like his flick ons never seemed to go near anyone, mix that in with not looking like he can score and its just extremely underwhelming.

Still important for us right now, even by proxy and in spite of it being a panic buy

Doing precisely what I expected of him, holding the line well but not offering much else. We don't pick up 7 points without him.

The one blot on an otherwise perfect night. First time I've seen him live in the flesh (wasn't at the Watford or Leeds games) and he looks like a dreadful footballer. Major lack of mobility for a Premier League footballer.

He'll get plenty more opportunities, especially with the likes of Bruno threading the odd through ball. Just needs the one to gee him up, then he'll be vital for our last fixtures

Don't like all the shit he's getting on here already, he's been getting pure hoofed balls at him by himself

If we hadn't been so desperate for a striker at the time I could have seen us triggering Wood's release clause much later in the window. A deadline day bid, leaving them no real time to strengthen, would have fucked them. C'est la vie

 Good point.

Way too early to write him off but do think he would be better if he had a partner upfront. No one is making the runs when he wins the flick ons. Hope he gets the first goal soon to instill some confidence.

If we stay up it's irrelevant how good he is really.

However he still needs to show he is worth a squad place for next season, and he needs to start soon.

He is to Howe what Heskey became for England.

He's a lump that will chase and facilitate for other players. I'd love him to get some goals but he'll get cheers from me as long as he keeps this up.

Given how badly we did bringing in other attackers in the window, can't be too upset that we have him. As others have said, he's at least someone who knows how to play the position.

He does look a bit shite and we paid too much but if he stays fit and can at least provide a focal point for the rest of the year and grab two or three goals and we stay up it'll be a distant memory very soon.

We lump the ball forward to him and tbf he does win a lot of headers etc. But he needs a pacey forward in and around him, he just isn't suited for the system we play imo.
