Some of it to me is dark arts and the other is that when you stay on your feet the refs are more likely to say it's a 50/50 tussel and play on. I am sure we are pleased he's ours and not against us big Joe would easily get red carded against a player like Gordon "making a meal of it"

If refs came out and said there would be zero tolerance for all simulation (including exaggerating injury), and then enforced it with yellow and red cards where necessary, I'd bet there'd be some tantrums for a while before people quickly adapted and players started staying on their feet etc.

I think when your under pressure and trying to play out riding the challenge to try and break away or give your team a breather going down for a free kick it's a fine line. I don't like rolling around like you have been shot and would be all for a punishment. Cards for simulation don't happen often enough and var should assist refs when it's blatant. Issue is when there is slight contact and a player is going at pace it's hard to see it as much.

Always subjective really as some more physical players brush off stuff and others draw a foul.

.

Bruno has came into issues more this season for not getting fouls this may be in part of his reputation.

Yeah common sense should apply when the simulation is unclear. I just think blatant diving and rolling around happens all the time and has been condoned to the point it's now ingrained in the game.

The two newcastle ones that spring to mind are the miggy one trying to get a pen last season launching himself in the air he was carded for as a bad example and the pen Gordon got when Phillips tried to clear the ball and got the player as a good example if he didn't react the way he did it may not have been reviewed at all.

The first dive was ridiculous and it probably contributed to him not getting a call in the second half. I don't mind him deploying dark arts to get something if it's warranted.

If everyone can get past their despair at his diving or whatever, he did actually cause Chelsea some real headaches in the first half. Looked very lively, and got them panicking a fair bit during that time.
