Sounds a fantastic player, but he left aged 22, in 1966, before most people on here were born (even me!). So no surprise really.

Many others who on ability could/should feature  (Milburn, Hughie G, Bobby Moncur, Frank Hudspeth—who apparently, should be the best shout for the LB role—Joe Harvey, Colin Veitch, etc etc) are just lost in the mists of time and legend (for most). Lovely to see someone from that era feature though, so fair play to you.

Pope

Trippier

Schar

Colo

Enrique

HBA

Bruno

Cabaye

Robert

Martins

Asprilla

Fuck defending  slowest and most unathletic midfield pairing around. Wide men who won’t get back in their own half. Two strikers who don’t know what they’re going to do next. Pure chaos.

Favourite XI. Clearly not the best.

I think I’d hate watching the version of Martins that played for us, now. But always had a soft spot for him. Despite all the criticism. Tino is still my favourite player. Not that I was watching him every week like we can nowadays. So probably a similar view to Oba.

Saw him make his debut. Stunning.

Actually he left aged 24, in 1978 after 158 appearances for us.

Thought you were talking about Alan Suddick! But it was Alan Kennedy. Apologies,  total wires crossed moment.
