Guest FlapjackJoe
Seriously, what the hell does Fat Fred do from September to December except counting his money and eating more pies? Surely, THAT would be the time to make tentative enquiries. By the time 1 January comes along, the player should be having his medical. In fairness, he pulled off quite a coup getting Owen, I think he's trying the same tactics for all our signings now - make a decent offer, the selling club will then try and hold out, and if no one matches the offer at the end of the transfer window, Fred gets his man. Unless another club (Boro) interferes with it all. Why the hell can we not sign players in November or something (obviously to join the club on 1/1/2006, with some clause for NUFC to cancel the deal if the player picks up an injury). Sure that's similar to what Manure did with Henrik Larsson. Then on 1/1, you do the paperwork, and the player is ready to play 3 days later. Or does all that make too much sense? La Parka
In the words of football manager 2007. Wes Brown should be regarded as a definate purchase. Too true.

Yes, I can just see other clubs falling over themselves to allow us to negotiate a deal with their players to join us in a couple of months while still paying their wages and allowing us to pull out if they get injured.
