The French full-back made a return to action on Wednesday for Lee Clark's second string after nearly three months out with a hip injury. The 27-year-old lasted for 76 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic and afterwards set his sights on a second debut for United, six seasons after his original Toon bow. Bernard, who re-signed for Newcastle in September, told nufc.co.uk: "If I play well and keep on doing my best for the club then I don't see why the manager won't put me in the team.
