The chairman doesn't buy the players etc.

Oh yes he does.

Oh no he doesn't.

Oh no he shouldn't - but probably does!

Aye. Probably.

All I'll say is that Souness was very upset when he had Luque landed on him.....

I've said this exact thing about GR before, who the fuk is he and why would a player want to join our club for him?

He has no pulling power whatsoever, he's the geek that never got picked for a dance at the school disco, he looks, act and talks like a Physics teacher FFS!

We need charm and charisma at this club, god knows the fat cunt has none, at least the manager should have some.

Could you imagine GR trying to motivate you? He's like the inept boss who makes a tit of himself trying to motivate his staff, clearly talking bollocks and doesn't believe in himself or what he is saying.

he's here bacause no other cunt wanted the job. end of.

what sort of cunt would you be anyway if you can't get yourself motivated in the last stages of the UEFA cup. Where has this ridiculous idea that if Roeder never said a word the team would automatically play shite come from?

self motivation of NUFC payers has been raised by pundits who know what the fuck they are talking about time after time after time, but it gets conveniently ignored in the face of stupidity

Talking about the signing of players here

what attracted Duff, Martins and Solano then?

B*llocks.

Didn't Souness even get a second opinion about Luque from his pal Robinson who works on La Liga for Spanish TV?

A few months ago, an article in the Times said that Freddie wanted Woodgate, but Roeder wanted Huth. This produced a deadlock until the very last minute, when the club made bids for both, and then later Zat Knight, in the hope of securing at least one of them. By then, of course, it was too late.

It's possible that Woodgate met up with Roeder, but if Roeder wasn't that keen, that might well have come across and that lack of enthusiasm was enough to put Woodgate off.

Another example of Chairman and Manager not working together properly. It's been the story of the last few seasons.

Sheppard should have nowt to do with it...

Weve seen it in the past with Robson (Speed vs Butt, Kluivert vs Beattie) and lets say we did get a world class manager, who says he wants to sign Chivu from Roma, but our mate Fred says "nor lad, i kna this gud en - plays for Gatesheed, and he's a geordie like"...they have a big argument, etc etc

Totally agree with that - When Sir John was chairman, it was Keegan who chose the players - just told the chairman who he wanted, and let them go and sort out the figures - then Keegan met the players, sold the club to them, and 9 out of 10 of them signed.

Players press conferences/first pics (apart from Shearer for obvious reasons) were with KK alone.

These days, it seems to be a case of Manager gives chairman a list of players, chairman crosses most off, adds his own names, then tells manager who he will be approaching. When a signbing is made, the chairman has to be in on every photo opportunity. Ratio of signings to players wanted is probably well down now as well.

In his defence though, I think Shepherd started getting involved in trabsfers by being too over-cautious after some of the big money signings we made that ended up leaving for nowt, or very little (Viana, cort, marcelinho, Goma to name a few).

Just now, he seems to have the taste, and seems to undermine the manager at most opportunities.

exactly. Keegan didn't stick around to see the consequences of freely spending other people's money

Money, desperation & familiarity.

Its obvious to everyone that Duff and Martins didnt sign for us because of the great and top class manager which is Glenn Roeder but because of money,we are rather big club(52,00 attendance),and other different circumstances.

I wouldnt be surpiced if Woodgate turns us down because our manager is completely unknonwn to the football world and he cant learn anything under his management as a player

Im sure that Woodgate learn alot under SBR,but SBR is notorious everywhere around the world and is proven manager

Roeder on the other hand has managed the likes of Gillingham,Watford and West Ham so far in his career.

The worlds top class managers play huge role when it comes to signing players because every player want to be manged by the best managers in the world

remember robson stated he chose every player who came and went, then he didn't,now it seems all those who were successes were his choices, all those who weren't were someone elses.i'll bet if gary speed had been shit at bolton it would have been robsons decision to offload him.
