I'm not fawning, i think he showed some good touches and control and added a lot to the game. He'll have to do it in the prem obviously but he produced the sort of performance today that i thought he could. Not brilliant but better than Parker in midfield and gives us options up front. He's a much better all-rounder than any of them and while people are justified to question his goalscoring record, he offers much more than goals and is one of those players who I imagine all managers would love. Fergie is no idiot, he signed Smith because he wanted a good player and a great character, something that often gets overlooked as people wank about records and flair.
