42 years to win owt other than the Inter Toto

"We no longer have to find loans from outside sources"
Bloody good job - no hope of getting one IMHO

85% turnover on wages, that is an eye watering amount.
Less than 70% wasn't it? So about £56m.
I assumed that 85p in the £1 was aimed at the wages for the whole club. Still £56M wage bill for a side like Everton is still a big amount tbh for a side with around a 25 man squad an average wage of around £40k per player.
It's wreckless spending on wages which puts clubs into trouble mainly and not just spending too much on transfers imo.
he said "at the training ground" - he was including the cost of that, the support staff etc etc
still ridiculous

This is really a "Best team from players who you've seen" thread isn't it??
No Yashin, few mentions of Banks, Pele, Der Bomber, Greaves, Der Kaiser, the Dutch from the 70's.................................................

The Quater royal family are meant to be buying manchester united for 1.5 billion. If it happens they will be pretty untouchable.
but that money would go to the current owners
It''s not what you pay for the club that counts it's how much you pour in once you own it

someone will drag them through the courts one day , don't worry

The first two paragraphs are are hackneyed and inaccurate. The post reads like it was written in a faux-ivory tower, with those living below characterised as Shepherd-loving ape-men. As such, I would think it's Punk who could be accused of not giving due consideration to what other people have been saying.
Don't knock Fat Fred
if he was still in charge he'd probably have sold Smith to Barca in January for £ 50mm

Rob, at this time where it'll take a shitload of investment to break the top 6, is there really much of a problem with that model you've typed out?
TBH if it was MY money in the club that's what I'd do as well

Probably been done before but the Ronaldo thread had me thinking about my all time XI. I'd go with:
Banks
Cafu Moore Maldini R.Carlos
Beckham Zidane Xavi C.Ronaldo
Shearer Ronaldo
That's just my opinion, I swapped out Giggs for C.Ronaldo, but I think it works either way. An outstanding Goalkeeper, two full backs that like to attack, two rocks in the centre of defence. Beckham, the best crosser of the ball ever imo, on the right, Zidane given free reign with Xavi sitting and orchestrating things and C.Ronaldo another with sort of a free reign. Shearer and Ronaldo up top just guarantees goals. Difficult to leave Messi out and have C.Ronaldo in, that is a contentious point certainly. A very attack minded team but one that would be able to keep possession well and score bags of goals from the strikers and from midfield. Also the options at set pieces would be ridiculous.
no Pele FFS but Beckham? Must be a ManU supporter :idiot2:

It would be a very easy thing for Gorgeous george to slip a clause int eh next finance bill kicking the FA's rules into touch
-
why change a classic formula?
If you do away with replays you've just about guaranteed that the draw is more important than the match - it will lead to away teams playing 1-10 and hoping to win on penalties

The Vile Owner will look at things and think
1. we finished in mid table even tho everyone had us set for the drop
2. lots of evidence that the high wages/fees are buggering other clubs
3. we're getting gates up to 51,000 when the rest of the dross are getting 24,000 = we have a significant cash flow advantage
4. steady as she goes -
5. no big buys that will inflate the wage bill
6. sell anyone if £ 15 mm is offered
7. buy some cover at <£ 10mm
8. Aim to finish top 7 which will keep the credulous fools on the terraces in a state of hope
9. pray economic situation turns round and a buyer turns up

"I doubt he knows Dagestan aint the safest of places"
Its bloody dire - safer in Baghdad TBH

Aye, we obviously can't score. It's not as if we've put in 12 in our last six league matches or anything.
I've heard of lies, damned lies and statistics, but this is ridiculous - how many decent chances have been created an MISSED ? Also, 2 pens in the Arsenal game, so only 10 on 6 games from open play.
Also, how many did we concede playing in those games v Bolton and WBA ? 8, I believe it was.....
You can extract anything you like from any period to prove your point but we are living with reality here..
Tiote scored HOW many before last week ? Its not even his job and he won't get many more...how many will Coloccini get and it was his goal that won us a point against Spurs...?
We have, as the expert alpal has pointed out, now lost Carroll and he has been replaced by a 34 yr old has been....we are looking at where the goals will come from in the NEXT 6 games, not the past.
You had better hope that Best keeps doing it because Ranger and Lovenkrands won't....see yesterday.
Nothing has changed since the beginning of January then. Carroll has been injured and is still injured and we don`t know when he will be match fit and how many games it will take for him to start scoring. Would have been the same here as his new club. He could have stayed here and got a reocurrence the first or second match back. No one knows. Its pointless even bringing him up. If and when he is back he starts scoring loads for them and we can`t score would be the only time worth talking about it.
I can think of at least 4 games we won before he was sold he never scored in and a few we were already winning before he got a goal late on in that match.
I think we will be fine especially with some better/younger attack minded midfielders to come back.
bang on - if we miss Carroll it will be when and if we look to move up a level (YUFA contenders) - this season it looks as if we can manage without him

2..74 mb pdf
we've been bumped off the top 20 by............ Villa!!
-
I've been saying that for over 50 years....................
-
sobering reality....
"I reckon that Spurs will finish 5th, Sunderland Liverpool 6th/7th meaning that you (even with Carroll - assuming he stayed fit) were aiming for 8th at best" (from a independant fan)
Maybe our `esteemed` management, figured we would miss out on uefa cup. SO took the money and ran....
was this cowardly? yes. WOuld have been risky fighting liverpool for 7th, but possibly it was doable.
at the start of the season we'd have given out first-born to finish 8th FFS

how much of someone else s money do you want them to spend???

considering Fat Fred took him to the cleaners and his main business is operating in a grim market I can't see why the hell he would blow more cash at SJP - I wouldn't

nice to see a thread properly argued and not descend into the pit as so many do on here
